About This Guide
This guide is intended for system administrators. This book is in three parts:
● Part I, “ESB Configuration Tools and Managed Components,” includes the chapters:
■ Chapter 1, “Using Progress Sonic ESB Configuration and Management Tools”
introduces Progress Sonic ESB and its configuration and management tools.
■ Chapter 2, “ESB Containers” describes ESB Containers and Activation
Daemons.
■ Chapter 3, “ESB Endpoints and Connections” describes how to use ESB
components and resources.
■ Chapter 4, “Configuring Web Services” describes using Web Service standards in
the configuration and management of ESB components and resources.
● Part II, “Configuring Database Services,” includes the chapters:
■ Chapter 5, “Using the Database Service JDBC Drivers,” explains how to
configure load balancing, failover, and connection retry for connections made
using the drivers.
■ Chapter 6, “Driver Connection Properties and Data Types by Database Brand,”
describes the properties and data types for several database brands: Progress
OpenEdge, DB2, Informix, Oracle, Microsft SQL Server, and Sybase.
