engaging in other kindred pursuits; that upon this farm should
be planted orchards, and the raising of small fruit should be
carried on upon a sufficient scale," etc., and your committee
are of the opinion, after thoroughly investigating and looking
over the various Homes, and carefully studying the question
from the standpoint of expediency, that the cottage plan, as
directed in this resolution, is not the best, and that a large
building should be put up in lieu thereof. This, however, is
simply the opinion of the committee, and without further
authority from the Grand Lodge, we, the undersigned, hold
that the majority of the Board have no right, power or au-
thority to let a contract for the erection of a large building,
or any kind of a building, except cottages such as contemplated
in the said resolution of last year; and we therefore
most earnestly urge that the matter of location, and also the
matter of letting contracts for the erection of. a building or
buildings, be deferred until your Committee of Trustees get
further instructions from the Grand Lodge, and such instructions,
whatever may be the final conclusions of the Grand
Lodge, will be heartily concurred in by the undersigned.
We also urge upon you, as Grand Master, in view of the
above facts, and the great importance thereof to our entire
jurisdiction, that you, if found necessary, interpose your official
authority to so suspend operations until passed upon by the
Grand Lodge in session.
