Document No. 37.
Whereas, There has been shown a great desire on the part of
this Grand Lodge to lessen the expense of the same, and believing all
are sincere in the matter, desiring to maintain both the Orphans'
Home and the Old Folks' Home in a manner creditable to the Order,
and believing that a small step in the right direction would be
appreciated by all; be it
Besolved, That One Dollar be deducted from each Grand Officer's,
Representative's and Committeeman's per diem, to be set forth and
known as the Grand Lodge Yearly Benefit to the Old Folks' and
Orphans' Homes,—one-half to each; and be it further
Resolved, That the Chairman of the Committee on Mileage and
Per Diem deduct said amount, and turn it over to the Grand Treas-
urer, for the purpose set forth in the above resolution.

Whekeas, Economy, Retrenchment and Reform are the leading
thoughts of this Grand Lodge, and under the present financial condition
of this Grand Body it is, and should ever be, the imperative duty
of every officer and representative to eliminate and curtail every item
of expense when such reduction can be reasonably done without manifest
injury to the service or subject-matter of such expense; to that
end, therefore, be it
Besolved, by the Grand Lodge of Illinois, I.O.O.F., that we favor
the curtailment and reduction of the expenses of this Grand Lodge of
the following items of expenses as shown by the Grand Secretary's
Report: and that no \^arrants be drawn on the Treasurer in payment
of any such service or expense in the future, as follows:
Mileage and per diem paid the Judiciary and Appeals Committee

Stenographer for the Grand Master 480 00
Stenographer for the Grand Secretary 360 00
For printing the Daily Journal and stenographer 200 00
For printing 150 copies of the German Journal of the proceedings
of this Grand Lodge 469 20
