T.R. Amsler (boys camp staff ’95,<br />
’96) makes his home <strong>in</strong> San<br />
Francisco, “a little slice of urban<br />
<strong>Chewonki</strong>. We just hosted a pig<br />
roast with a pasture-raised pig<br />
from north of <strong>the</strong> city.” He and<br />
wife Chalida are now parents, and<br />
T.R. teaches English and history<br />
at <strong>the</strong> June Jordan School for<br />
Equity. “It’s not quite <strong>the</strong> Wonk,<br />
but we br<strong>in</strong>g a real community<br />
spirit to <strong>the</strong> tough situation <strong>in</strong><br />
urban public schools,” he writes.<br />
“My experiences at <strong>Chewonki</strong><br />
def<strong>in</strong>itely shaped my educational<br />

Aponte (boys camp staff ’94)<br />
welcomed a daughter, Sophia<br />
Louise Aponte, on 8-14-07.<br />
Jason Bilan<strong>in</strong> works for AIG and<br />
lives <strong>in</strong> his wife’s home state of<br />
New Jersey. Sarah Davies<br />
teaches second grade at a private<br />
school <strong>in</strong> Park Slope, Brooklyn.<br />
She now has a daughter, Eleanor,<br />
born New Year’s Eve ’07. She has<br />
shown her husband around<br />
<strong>Chewonki</strong> “and even poked<br />
around <strong>in</strong> B<strong>in</strong>nacle.” Joy Fyfield<br />
lives just outside Portland <strong>in</strong><br />
Milwaukie, OR. She and her<br />
husband are teach<strong>in</strong>g children,<br />
Stella (5), Cyril (3), and Cole (1),<br />
to flyfish. Emma Jacobson-Sive<br />
is enjoy<strong>in</strong>g life <strong>in</strong> Los Angeles.<br />
She is act<strong>in</strong>g when not work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong><br />
public relations at a Pasadena<br />
museum. Laura Howard Leduc,<br />
her husband, Craig, and <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
young daughter, Tessa, live <strong>in</strong><br />
Arl<strong>in</strong>gton, MA. Laura’s f<strong>in</strong>ish<strong>in</strong>g<br />
her residency <strong>in</strong> anes<strong>the</strong>sia and<br />
will start a fellowship <strong>in</strong> pediatric<br />
anes<strong>the</strong>sia. Debbie Perelman<br />
and her husband live <strong>in</strong> New York<br />
City with Maia (4 years), Jacob (2<br />

½ years), and Charlie (4 months).<br />
She reports, “I have been back to<br />
<strong>Chewonki</strong> once with my<br />
husband…It still looked <strong>the</strong><br />
same—even B<strong>in</strong>nacle.” Bill Pugh<br />
and his wife moved to Alexandria,<br />
VA, after two years <strong>in</strong> Hong<br />
Kong. She teaches English at<br />
Episcopal High School while Bill<br />
works <strong>in</strong> urban plann<strong>in</strong>g, sharpen<strong>in</strong>g<br />
an <strong>in</strong>terest <strong>in</strong> policy and<br />
advocacy. “If any of you work or<br />
have friends work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> susta<strong>in</strong>ability,<br />
transportation, urban<br />
policy, etc., especially <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> D.C.<br />
area, I’d love to chat,” he says.<br />
Mo Saldanha is “head of onl<strong>in</strong>e”<br />
for Jamie Oliver, <strong>the</strong> celebrity<br />
chef. “We launched Jamie’s<br />
M<strong>in</strong>istry of Food [go to<br />
www.jamieoliver.com] to promote<br />
people teach<strong>in</strong>g each o<strong>the</strong>r to<br />
cook, and <strong>the</strong>n launched his new<br />
lifestyle brand, for now only<br />
available <strong>in</strong> Europe,” she writes.<br />
“In my free time, I am capta<strong>in</strong> of<br />
my women’s doubles tennis team,<br />
do loads of astanga yoga, and run<br />
Momaya Press, promot<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong><br />
short story amongst writers and<br />
readers worldwide and accept<strong>in</strong>g<br />
entries for <strong>the</strong> annual Momaya<br />
Short Story Competition. Last<br />
but not least, I’m s<strong>in</strong>gle aga<strong>in</strong>.”<br />
Jeff Urbanus is “still wait<strong>in</strong>g for<br />
a <strong>Chewonki</strong> event <strong>in</strong> Anchorage”!<br />
Jodie Townsend Willis now has<br />
three children and is “try<strong>in</strong>g to<br />
stop practic<strong>in</strong>g law.”<br />

Adam Hoverman (boys camp<br />

’92, ’95) is a doctor of osteopathic<br />
medic<strong>in</strong>e and works for <strong>the</strong><br />
Yakima Valley Farm Workers as a<br />
family physician. He sometimes<br />
walks at a Don Hudson Pace and<br />
still savors Lao Tzu. Ben Lipson<br />
has been “liv<strong>in</strong>g and study<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong><br />
Israel ever s<strong>in</strong>ce Emily Kellert<br />
Lerner, Jennie Kalberer, and<br />
Nivi Nord left me here on <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
way to India. I am married with<br />
five lively children between <strong>the</strong><br />
ages of 1 and 11 and am currently<br />
study<strong>in</strong>g and teach<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Raanana Community Kollel <strong>in</strong><br />
central Israel.” Veronica<br />
Vasquez teaches algebra 2,<br />
geometry, and a course called<br />
Concepts of Advanced Ma<strong>the</strong>matics<br />
at <strong>the</strong> Tatnall School. She’s<br />
teach<strong>in</strong>g her son Malachi that<br />
boys can be anyth<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong>y want to<br />
be: “astronauts, fire chiefs,<br />
doctors, math teachers, or<br />
pr<strong>in</strong>cesses!” Will Willis is<br />
director of <strong>in</strong>ternational programs<br />
and susta<strong>in</strong>ability coord<strong>in</strong>ator at<br />
Mercersburg Academy. His<br />
children are 3 and almost 5, “and<br />
grow<strong>in</strong>g too fast.”<br />

Liz Brown (Wilderness Trips,<br />

excuses to come to Ma<strong>in</strong>e <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
future when my son is old enough<br />
to attend <strong>Chewonki</strong>!” Liz and her<br />
husband run a digital studio <strong>in</strong><br />
NYC called StudioE9, where <strong>the</strong>y<br />
“create emerg<strong>in</strong>g media solutions<br />
that help non-profits, educational<br />
<strong>in</strong>stitutions, and onl<strong>in</strong>e publishers.<br />
We are work<strong>in</strong>g with True-<br />
Carbon.org to help br<strong>in</strong>g<br />
accountability to carbon offsets<br />
and <strong>in</strong>centives for commercial<br />
entities to participate.” Katie<br />
Ste<strong>in</strong> Fahey recently moved to<br />
Concord, MA, with her husband<br />
and <strong>the</strong>ir children, TJ and Ella.<br />
Rachel Godlewski now has a<br />
master’s degree <strong>in</strong> education.<br />
Brooke Peelle Guthrie<br />
welcomed tw<strong>in</strong> girls on 8-22-08.<br />
She writes that her older daughter,<br />
Lyla, has been hav<strong>in</strong>g fun with<br />
<strong>the</strong>m, and Brooke “can’t wait ’til<br />
<strong>the</strong>y are old enough to go to<br />
<strong>Chewonki</strong> Camp for Girls.”<br />
Meghan Jeans (boys camp staff<br />
’92–’94, ’98) is “still liv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong><br />
good life <strong>in</strong> San Fran and enjoy<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>the</strong> tropical adventures that come<br />
along with work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>ternational<br />
mar<strong>in</strong>e conservation.” Liz<br />
Carmany Perreten now has a<br />
daughter, Annie, and likes liv<strong>in</strong>g<br />
just outside NYC. Sara Wight<br />
(Wilderness Trips ’92) and her<br />
husband, Michael, live <strong>in</strong> New<br />
Hampshire, where she is a sixthgrade<br />
teacher at a small<br />
elementary school. “Though my<br />
students do not know me as<br />
‘Wigit,’” she says, “I have held<br />
onto <strong>the</strong> persona and am known as<br />
‘Auntie Wigit’ to my nieces and<br />
nephews.”<br />

Dylan (formerly Gabby) Bosseau<br />
(camp staff ’92, ’94, ’95) has a<br />
dual degree <strong>in</strong> social work and<br />
education with an emphasis <strong>in</strong><br />
early development (<strong>in</strong>fants and<br />
toddlers) and families. Dylan<br />
writes, “My partner of 6 years,<br />
Barb O’Neill, completed her<br />
dissertation this spr<strong>in</strong>g, earn<strong>in</strong>g a<br />
doctorate <strong>in</strong> early childhood<br />
special education.” <strong>The</strong>y live <strong>in</strong><br />
Brooklyn, and Dylan studies<br />
acrobatics and static trapeze with<br />
a company called LAVA, where<br />
she sees Zach Strassburger<br />
(MCS 26). Aaron Kadoch, an<br />
architect at ORW Associates <strong>in</strong><br />
White River Junction, VT,<br />
married Camille Hensler, an<br />
attorney. <strong>The</strong>y built <strong>the</strong>ir home<br />
<strong>in</strong> Quechee and love Vermont<br />
life. We are both sad and happy<br />
to pr<strong>in</strong>t this note from Sam<br />
Maier (boys camp staff ’92), who<br />
died <strong>in</strong> March ’09. A memorial to<br />
Sam appeared <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Spr<strong>in</strong>g ’10<br />
Chronicle. In this note, received <strong>in</strong><br />
February ’09, Sam warmly<br />
describes his life: “<strong>The</strong> tw<strong>in</strong>s, Liv<br />
and Dag, are 4, and Solveig<br />
Grace is 2…. We have really<br />
found community <strong>in</strong> Maud’s little<br />
hometown on <strong>the</strong> west coast of<br />
Norway. Quiet street, everyth<strong>in</strong>g<br />
you need with<strong>in</strong> walk<strong>in</strong>g distance,<br />
lovely walk<strong>in</strong>g trails and right on<br />
<strong>the</strong> ocean. Perfect for <strong>the</strong> kids,<br />
and we have Maud’s family<br />
here…. Thanks for all <strong>the</strong> good<br />
