Yeah, the argument spiraled out of control from that point on. I had no intention of
moving out, but in 15 minutes flat, I had Edward believing I was and also taking EJ
away from him.
I was, thankfully, able to calm him down—angry Edward is a scary Edward—but
some sort of damage had already been done. He barely looked at me all week; only
coming into my room to get EJ, or being in any room with me for that matter, only if
EJ was there. I had expected him to come knocking on the door and get him any
minute. I was shocked he hadn't.
"Maybe daddy's not home?"
"Ome."
I smile and ruffle his hair. "You're going to be two. That means we can cut your hair
now." In response, he puts his hand on his head and frowns a little. "No? No
haircut?" He shakes his head. "Aww, you're cute. You think you have a choice," I
coo. This time he grins, and I'm not sure if this is him trying to butter me up with his
dad's signature smirk or if he isn't sure what I'm saying.
"How about we discuss this when Daddy's feeling better?" The last thing we needed
to argue about was haircuts.

"Let's start our day, handsome," I say to EJ after giving him a quick bath. "But first
we need to locate your fath—"
I don't get to finish the word father because as soon as I walk out into the living
room, I see him. Sitting on the couch; with Katelyn. She had never been here before,
at least not that I know of. And by the state of their dress, and the blanket and pillow
near the couch, it's clear she spent the night.
I give him a look as EJ stops squealing and reaching for him. Looking down at my
baby, he has an expression on his face only an Edward Masen Junior can dish out.
My face is the same way.
Blank.
We are not amused.
And we are not impressed.
