The Business: Mev Taylors is one of Edinburgh’s longest established music shops having first opened its doors in 1946! It has been in its current

selection of musical instruments such as guitars, banjos, brass instruments through to accordions and harmonicas. It also offers a large selection of
sheet music, DVDs and accessories such as amplifiers, cabling and parts for musical instruments. The business also offers a repair service which is
carried out in many cases in-house. The business is run by one proprietor with the assistance of part-time staff. The shop opening hours are from
Monday to Friday 10am to 5.30pm and on a Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
The Property: Situated amongst a row of other retail shops, Mev Taylors has a large window frontage giving an abundance of natural daylight into
the sales area. The sales area has a carpeted floor and spotlighting with a large selection of both new and second hand guitars hanging on the
walls. To one side is a large glass display cabinet for musical instruments such as flutes, trumpets etc along with accessories. There are also free
standing display units offering a large selection of sheet music and to the front area a sales counter where further accessories are on display.
Directly off the sales area is a workshop with work benches where repairs of various instruments are undertaken. Beyond this is a small office as
well as a staff w.c.
Tenure: We are informed that the premises are currently held on a 10 year lease
with a current rental of £1,100 per month.
Trading Figures: Accounts for the year ending August 2009 show a turnover of
£104,398 and a gross profit of £61,590. Further accounting information will be made
