Brazilian city of São Paulo are to<br />

be ad<strong>de</strong>d to the three non-stop<br />

services per week to Miami that<br />

<strong>Iberia</strong> has been operating since the<br />

end of March. With these <strong>Iberia</strong><br />

transatlantic flights, and thanks to<br />

the oneworld <strong>al</strong>liance, Barcelona is<br />

now connected with more than 15<br />

<strong>de</strong>stinations in the Americas.<br />

On 28 March, Termin<strong>al</strong> 1 at<br />

Barcelona’s El Prat Airport was the<br />

setting for the inauguration of<br />

three non-stop flights (on Tuesdays,<br />

Fridays and Saturdays) to Miami.<br />

Thanks to <strong>Iberia</strong>’s agreements<br />

with American Airlines and the<br />

Taca Group, Barcelona thus<br />

became connected with the cities<br />

of Houston and D<strong>al</strong>las in Texas,<br />

miami<br />

Orlando, Tampa, Key West, Pensacola,<br />

Fort Mayers and T<strong>al</strong>lahassee in Florida,<br />

Norfolk in Virginia, San Juan in Puerto<br />

Rico, Mexico City and Cancún in Mexico,<br />

Managua in Nicaragua, San Pedro Sula<br />

in Honduras, and Panama City.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Miami route is covered with<br />

Airbus A340/300 aircraft that hold 254<br />

passengers. <strong>The</strong> flights <strong>de</strong>part <strong>from</strong><br />

El Prat at 13:30 and land in Miami at<br />

18:10. From Miami, <strong>de</strong>parture is at<br />

19:45 and arriv<strong>al</strong> at Barcelona at 11:00<br />

the next day. <strong>Iberia</strong> expects to carry<br />

53,000 passengers on this route by<br />

December, and is offering triple <strong>Iberia</strong><br />

Plus points until 31 May for tickets<br />

purchased via <strong>iberia</strong>.com.<br />

<strong>Iberia</strong> has meanwhile inaugurated a<br />

new VIP lounge at Miami Airport with<br />

room for 120 guests.<br />

Flights to São Paulo<br />

On 19 June, <strong>Iberia</strong> is to commence its<br />

service to São Paulo <strong>from</strong> Barcelona.<br />

Two non-stop flights a week<br />

(Wednesdays and Sundays) will <strong>de</strong>part<br />

at 21:00 on an overnight journey that<br />

<strong>al</strong>low passengers to rest during the trip.<br />

<strong>The</strong> return flights <strong>from</strong> São Paulo will<br />

<strong>de</strong>part at 13:50.<br />

Airbus A340/300 aircraft with 254<br />

seats, 36 of them in Business Plus Class,<br />

will be used on this new route, which<br />

connects São Paulo via Barcelona with<br />

the <strong>Iberia</strong> Region<strong>al</strong> Air Nostrum and<br />

Vueling networks.<br />

Brazil has become a very important<br />

<strong>de</strong>stination for <strong>Iberia</strong>, with new routes<br />

inaugurated last February <strong>from</strong> Madrid<br />

to Fort<strong>al</strong>eza and Recife. Three flights<br />

a day to São Paulo and one a day to<br />

Rio are <strong>al</strong>so available <strong>from</strong> the Spanish<br />

capit<strong>al</strong> on a season<strong>al</strong> basis.<br />

And to Los Angeles <strong>from</strong> Madrid<br />

Barcelona to Miami, a new<br />

service <strong>from</strong> Madrid to Los Angeles<br />

was <strong>al</strong>so inaugurated. In this way,<br />

<strong>Iberia</strong> brought the West Coast<br />

of the USA a little closer, and<br />

ma<strong>de</strong> it possible for passengers<br />

to fly on to nine other American<br />

<strong>de</strong>stinations thanks to agreements<br />

with American Airlines: Honolulu<br />

in Hawaii; San Francisco, Santa<br />

Barbara, San Diego, San Jose,<br />

Fresno and Sacramento in<br />

C<strong>al</strong>ifornia; Las Vegas in Nevada,<br />
