Iberia y British Airways unen su negocio de carga
Iberia and British Airways join their cargo business
Tras la fusión de Iberia y British Airways,
las operaciones de carga de
ambas compañías serán dirigidas como
una sola unidad de negocio, que reportará
a International Airlines Group
(IAG), el holding resultante de la fusión,
aunque ambas compañías mantendrán
sus marcas actuales.
El negocio conjunto se situará entre
las diez mayores compañías aéreas de

el Ministerio de Fomento, Airbus y la empresa estatal Senasa
fi rmaron el 30 de marzo un acuerdo para poner en marcha un proyecto
que permita la producción y uso sostenible de biocombustibles para uso
en aviación. El acuerdo se fi rmó en el marco de las jornadas Aerodays
2011, que se celebraron en Madrid del 30 de marzo al 1 de abril.
El objetivo del acuerdo es promover y apoyar las iniciativas que permitan
desarrollar una cadena completa de producción de biocombustibles
para la aviación española. Esta iniciativa ha sido liderada por la Agencia
Estatal de Seguridad Aérea (AESA), Senasa y el Observatorio de Sostenibilidad
en Aviación (OBSA). El Ministerio de Medio Ambiente y Medio
Rural y Marino, el Ministerio de industria, a través del IADE (Instituto
para la Diversifi cación y el Ahorro de la Energía), y las empresas privadas
del sector energético, aeronáutica, logística y agrícolas, están cooperando
con el Ministerio de Fomento en el desarrollo de la iniciativa.

30 March, Iberia, the Ministry of Public Works, Airbus and the
Senasa state-owned company launched a project to produce bio
combustibles for use in aviation. The agreement was signed during
Aerodays 2011, that was held in Madrid from 30 March to 1 April.
The agreement seeks to promote and support the development of a
complete production chain of renewable bio combustibles for Spanish
aviation The project has been organised by the State Agency for Air

unidad de negocio los clientes se benefi

productos y una red más amplia con un
único punto de contacto de ventas en
cada mercado.
El acuerdo combina la fortaleza de
la red de vuelos de British en Norte
América, África y Asia con la de Iberia
en Latinoamérica y la destacada red de
carga de ambas compañías.
Following the merger of Iberia
and British Airways, the freight
operations of both companies will be
managed as a single business unit. It
will report to International Airlines
Group (IAG), the holding company
resulting from the merger, although
both companies will maintain their
current names.
The new joint air freight business
will be among the ten largest in the
world, headed by Steve Gunning as
director general and Ignacio Díez
Barturen as deputy director general.
Until now they were the top offi cers
of BA World Cargo and Iberia Cargo,
respectively. With the creation of
this single business operation, clients
will enjoy an integrated catalogue
of services and a large network, with
a single sales contact point in each
market.
The agreement combines the
strength of the British Airways
network in North America, Africa and
Asia with Iberia’s operation in Latin
America and the outstanding cargo
operation of both companies.
