También Agramunt es una zona muy rica en
museos y fundaciones. En 1994 el Ayuntamiento
de Agramunt, junto con el artista Josep
Guinovart, crearon la Fundación Privada Espai
Guinovart. El espacio, ubicado en el antiguo
mercado municipal, se articula por medio
de tres instalacions permanentes para mostrar
su obra, muy ligada a la naturaleza y a la tierra.
Otro referente internacional de Agramunt es
la Fundación privada Guillem Viladot, Lo Par-
When the visitor arrives at Agramunt he discovers that this town of
Urgell, besides exporting sweet traditions, offers much in the way of
leisure, culture and gastronomy. A proper tour of the place must include
a walk around the streets of the old quarter and a visit to the Romanesque
church of Santa Maria, with a portico which is characteristic of the
“School of Lleida” sculpturing and, in the interior, the Gothic carving of
the Verge del Socós, patron saint of the town. The bridge spanning the
River Sió has also survived from this same mediaeval age. In the church
square the façade of the Town Hall may be contemplated, built in the
architectural style of the Catalan civil baroque. Follow this with a stroll
along the streets of Sió, Major, and the Plaça Mercadal.
The municipality of Agramunt has six satellite villages: Mafet, Les
Pulles, Rocabertí (depopulated), La Donzell, Almenara Alta and Montclar.
Montclar, eight kilometres from Agramunt, is a settlement built
around the castle of Montclar, which has been declared a national
historic-artistic monument. At the top of the Serra d’Almenara Alta, at
six kilometres from Agramunt, rises the Pilar d’Almenara, a circular

narrativa, la poesía visual y las volumetrías. Es
interesante visitar el Museo Etnológico Municipal,
situado en los bajos del Espai Guinovart,
que alberga una magnífica colección de fotografías
antiguas y de herramientas agrícolas.
Imprescindible citar –y probar– la magnífica
gastronomía de Agramunt. Sus productos típicos
son los turrones, el chocolate a la piedra y
el queso artesanal. Los turrones, ya mencionados
en los documentos de 1741, gozan de una

a village of mediaeval structure which conserves a gateway from 1628.
A visit to the museums and foundations of Agramunt is essential. The
Private Foundation Espai Guinovart is an area located in the old municipal
marketplace, with three permanent installations dedicated to the
work of the artist Josep Guinovart, closely tied to nature and the land.
The Private Foundation Guillem Viladot, Lo Pardal, is another international
artistic reference. The poet prepared this space as a museum of
visual and plastic poetry. It is also interesting to visit the Municipal
Ethnological Museum, which holds a magnificent collection of old
photographs and agricultural tools. One cannot leave without mentioning–
and trying– the magnificent gastronomy of Agramunt. Its typical
products are turrones, chocolate and traditionally-made cheese. The
turrones have been awarded official recognition by the EU and also by
the Generalitat of Catalunya which has conceded them the mark of
quality. All of these products can be found at the well-known Fira del
Torró (Turron Fair) which is held in Agramunt in mid-October. ●

destaca por estar hecho de manera tradicional,
ya que se utilizaba una piedra para convertir el
cacao en polvo. El otro producto que destaca
por su calidad es el queso artesanal. Todos
estos productos, y muchos más, se pueden encontrar
en la conocida Feria del Turrón que se
celebra en Agramunt a mediados de octubre.
Cabe destacar la labor de la Oficina de Turismo
de la localidad, que, entre otros servicios,
ofrece visitas guiadas por la población. ●
