The magazine Seven Dining
Rooms is part of the Din
ing Rooms project produced
for the Espai 13 at the Fundació Joan
Miró, and focuses on the workers’
canteens, kitchens, or dining rooms
of some museums and cultural institu
tions in the city of Barcelona.
The seven institutions selected
for this are those included in the
articketBCN, a season ticket for “the
most visited museums of the city”.
This selection criterion has been
chosen for two reasons. First of all,
because it is an existing, visible link
between all these institutions and
the Fundació Joan Miró, which is
the starting point for the project.
Secondly, because a large amount
of the people who enter the Espai
13 and see the exhibition do so by
using, or buying, this ticket. This
turns them into a potential audience
for the other six institutions, or, at
least, makes them aware of their
existence. In this way, a link is made,
even if an indirect, remote, and
probably unconscious one, between
the canteens where the workers of
The totality of the project is above the curtain to create the magic
publication. The intervention, which ventriloquists.
is titled The Dining Room Within
The seven dining rooms allow
the Dining Room, consists in the us to make out the people who
Why meddle in the workers’
