Service Spark Pmug<br />

Service the spark plug every 100 hours of operation<br />

yearly, whichever occurs first.<br />

1. Clean area around spark pJug.<br />

2. Remove and inspect spark pJug.<br />

3. RepJace spark plug if the eJectrodes are worn, or if<br />

the insulator is cracked or chipped.<br />

4. For repJacement use either the standard resistor<br />

spark plug, Champion RJ19LM or the Jong life<br />

pJatinum spark plug, Champion QC12YC.<br />

5. Check electrode gap with wire feeler gauge and<br />

set gap at 0.030 inches (0.76mm), if necessary.<br />

6. JnstaJJspark plug, tighten secureJy.<br />

Spark Attester Service<br />

or<br />

a new spark plug by caJJing<br />

Your engine is not factory-equipped with a spark<br />

arrester, in some areas, it is iiiegaJ to operate an<br />

engine without a spark arrester. Check JocaJJaws and<br />

reguJations. A spark arrester is avaiJabJe from your<br />

nearest Sears service center, if you need to order a<br />

spark arrester, pJease caJJ1-800-366-PART.<br />

The spark arrester must be serviced every 50 hours to<br />

keep it functioning as designed.<br />

if the engine has been running, the muffJer wiJJbe very<br />

hot. AJJow the muffler to cool before servicing the<br />

spark arrester.<br />

WARNING<br />

DO NOT touch hot surfaces and avoid hot exhaust gases.<br />

Allow equipment to coo! before touching.<br />

Keep at least 5 ft. (152 cm) clearance on all sides of<br />

<strong>pressure</strong> <strong>washer</strong> including overhead.<br />

Code of Federal Regulation (CFR) Title 36 Parks,<br />

Forests, and Public Property require equipment powered<br />

by an internal <strong>com</strong>bustion engine to have a spark<br />

arrester, maintained in effective working order, <strong>com</strong>plying<br />

to USDA Forest service standard 5100-1C or later<br />

revision, in the State of California a spark arrester is<br />

required under section 4442 of the California Public<br />

resources code. Other states may have similar laws.<br />

Remove spark arrester screen for cleaning and<br />

inspection.<br />

• Replace if screen is damaged.<br />

Air Coo_ing System<br />

Over time debris may accumulate in cylinder cooling<br />

fins and cannot be observed without partial engine<br />

disassembly. For this reason, we re<strong>com</strong>mend you<br />

have an authorized Sears service dealer clean the<br />

cooling system per re<strong>com</strong>mended intervals (see<br />

"Maintenance Schedule" on page 16). EquaJiy<br />

important is to keep top of engine free from debris.<br />

Clean Combustion Chamber<br />

We re<strong>com</strong>mend you have an authorized Sears service<br />

dealer remove <strong>com</strong>bustion deposits from the cylinder,<br />

cylinder head, top of piston and around valves per<br />

re<strong>com</strong>mended intervals (see "Maintenance Schedule"<br />

on page 16).<br />
