For the winter months students may wear light blue long sleeve shirts or blouses, a light blue or navy blue sweater or sweatshirt (no logo). Students must be dressed in full uniform. If not, the following will occur, student will be a given a loan item for the day that must be returned the following school day. If a loan item is unavailable, parents will be contacted to bring the student a uniform or pick the student up for the day. FIELD EXPERIENCES Properly supervised and planned educational field trips are an important part of the instructional program. A signed permission form from a parent or guardian is required for all field trips. 5 TH GRADE ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS At the end of the fifth grade year special activities are planned for all fifth graders. They include a fifth grade field trip, luncheon, awards, and promotion acknowledgement ceremony. In order to participate in these activities fifth grade students must meet the following criteria: District required goals Acceptable behavior - no more than (3) referrals for the school year Acceptable attendance Satisfactory work completion School fees and all dues paid HEALTH SERVICES NURSE A nurse visits Woodland on a regular, but part-time basis. She may conference with students, teachers and parents regarding health problems. Students requiring health or first aid services should report to the main office for assistance. A nurse is always on call for any emergency situation. ACCIDENTS AND ILLNESS The school will make every effort to inform the parents of any accident or illness occurring at school that may need care or observation at home. Every accident in the school building, on the school grounds or at any event sponsored by the school must be reported immediately to the person in charge of the activity and to the school office. Students who become ill at school should be picked up as soon as you get a call from our staff. Students will not be sent home on their own. BUS EVACUATION DRILL During the course of the year students at Woodland School practice bus evacuation in the event of an emergency on the bus. All students are involved in this practice. EMERGENCY LOCKDOWN DRILL If an emergency situation occurring in the vicinity of a school endangers student safety, the school may be placed under lockdown. Whenever a threat arises, schools are the focus of heightened attention for local authorities. School is one of the safest places that your child can be at this time. During a lockdown, all school doors and windows are locked and all students and staff remain in their classrooms and offices. No one is permitted to leave or enter the school during this time. Should a lockdown ever occur at the school please note the following: Remain calm as school and local authorities manage the situation If a lockdown lasts for an extended period of time, or goes beyond dismissal time, students will not be allowed to leave until recommended by the appropriate authorities. School staff will attempt to notify parents. Parents may be required to pick children up from school or another designated staging area, once it’s determined to be safe to do so. Parents may need to present identification. Students and parents are reminded that during an emergency situation, cellular sites may be overwhelmed due to a high volume of calls. RULES OF JURISDICTION The jurisdiction of school for students conduct includes the following: The transportation of students to and from the school, whether by bus, or by walking; the presence and actions of students on campus during the school day and after school activities; and the schoolsanctioned activities that occur both on and off campus. The school staff will diligently manage and supervise student conduct in all programs, maintain the confidence of students, parents and community.
