El objetivo <strong>de</strong>l estudio fue conocer el efecto el tabaco sobre la actividad<br />
<strong>de</strong> la enfermedad y el daño en órganos en pacientes con lupus eritematoso<br />
sistémico (LES). En 111 pacientes diagnosticados <strong>de</strong> LES, entre 18 a<br />
65 años <strong>de</strong> edad, se evaluaron variables clínicas, epi<strong>de</strong>miológicas y<br />
<strong>de</strong>mográficas, incluyendo el consumo <strong>de</strong> tabaco actual o anterior,<br />
mediante un cuestionario. La actividad <strong>de</strong>l LES se midió mediante el<br />
Indice <strong>de</strong> Actividad <strong>de</strong> la Enfermedad para el LES (SLEDAI). El daño<br />
acumulativo <strong>de</strong> órganos se evaluó mediante un índice aceptado por la<br />
<strong>Sociedad</strong> Americana <strong>de</strong> Reumatología (SLICC/ACR).<br />
