BETWEEN LOVE & OTRAS CHINGADERAS

… is a collection of prose, poems and short stories. The product of the past five years—from the green mountains of Chiapas, Mexico to the dusty streets of (Tabarre) Port-Au-Prince and the irreverence that the Spirit of God has planted in his heart—put into the limits of words. Love, just as the iconic Mexican word, chigadera, is versatile, creative, life giving. The life that emanates out of love makes you radically unapologetic, irrational as to the healing power that it brings. Hence, the binary of life is undomesticated love, tenderness in private and justice in the public realm.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR | SOBRE EL AUTOR
Hugo Esparza, CP is a Religious of the
Congregation of the Passion of Jesus
Christ (the Passionist) and a priest. Born in
Mexico, raised in Northern California, he was
raised by a family of 3 precious women, his
mother and two sisters. He now has a bigger
family that keep inspiring him throughout the
USA, Mexico and, now, in Haiti, where he is
currently working.
He's more than 10 year experience with
grassroots organizations in the USA and
Mexico gave him a holy irreverence in his
preaching, his writing and ministerial work.
"Fr. Hugo, CP represents the Church of the 21st
Century, one where I find a space to grow and
work for the Kingdom.”˗ Trigger (Ex˗gangmenber/
Sacramento, California)
Ordained a priest in 2011, for four years, he
worked in Chiapas, Mexico among indigenous
communities. The hope found in a people
ravaged by centuries of corruption and poverty
has cemented in Fr. Hugo, CP that the message
of the Cross is the antidote for all the misery of
the world.
“The preaching of Fr. Hugo Esparza, CP have
helped me see and live my sense of being
church from a different perspective, one where
is impossible to talk of a real community and a
real communion with Christ unless I center my
sight in the needs of others.” - Juan Alberto
(Cultural Worker, Chiapas, Mx.)
Fr. Hugo, CP’s work from organizing cab drivers
in Nashville, Tenessee, Poultry Workers in
Arkansa, accompanying Mayan Young adults in
the Mountains of Chiapas, and his presence
with young Haitian Aspirants to Religious Life
give him a unique story that needs to be
shared.
Trigger (Ex˗gangmenber / Sacramento, California)
Hugo Esparza,
compartida.
