Lors de l’adoption de la Déclaration universelle des droits de l’Homme, en décembre
1948, huit États se sont abstenus arguant que certains articles n’étaient pas
acceptables dans leur culture. Jusqu’à maintenant, certains continuent de remettre
en question l’universalité des droits de la personne. le film jette un regard sur
l’histoire de la codification des droits en soulignant quelques-uns des points qui
ont fait l’objet de débats et les arguments avancés par leurs détracteurs.
When the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted in december 1948,
eight states abstained from voting arguing that certain articles were not acceptable
in their cultures. to this day, certain positions within legal philosophy doubt the
universality of human rights. the film looks at the history of the codification of
human rights by highlighting some of the debated points and the respective
arguments for and against them.

internationale de courts-métrages organisée par la Fondation "souvenir, responsabilité
et avenir" et le goethe institut en 2007.

BarBara falkner
née en 1976, Barbara Falkner est décoratrice d’intérieur et scénographe à Berlin.
Elle a travaillé pour la deutsche staatsoper (Opéra) de Berlin, pour des théâtres de
nuremberg, et sur les plateaux de plusieurs courts-métrages.
Born in 1976, Barbara Falkner is an interior designer/scenographer in Berlin. she has
worked for the deutsche staatsoper in Berlin, nuremberg theatres, and for a number
of short films.

pour souligner le 60e anniversaire de la déclaration universelle des droits de l’homme en 2008, la fondation « souvenir, responsabilité et avenir » s’est associée au
goethe institut pour organiser une deuxième compétition internationale du court métrage. Trois films de cette compétition sont présentés durant le FFdpM : A Human
request, The Therapist et gevald.

un homme arrive dans une ville aussi désespérée que le sont ses habitants.
il aide les gens et les soigne. leur souffrance finit cependant par avoir raison
de lui ; il s’effondre. une femme apparaît finalement et vient à son secours :
tout est bien qui finit bien.
a man arrives in a town which is just as broken as its inhabitants. he helps the
people and heals them. eventually, however, the man can no longer bear the
people’s pain; it literally breaks him. Finally a woman appears and saves him: what
goes around, comes around.
