Verhandlungsdelegation für den Beitritt von Großbritannien, Dänemark, Norwegen und Irland. Nach der Fusion der Exekutiven 1968, wird
er Generaldirektor für Wettbewerbspolitik (1967-1970). 1970 verlässt er die Kommission und wird Finanzdirektor und Stellvertretender
des Unternehmens H. Bahlsen (1971-1976), CDU Abgeordneter im niedersächsischen Landtag (1970-1977) und schließlich
Ministerpräsident von Niedersachsen (1976-1990). 1990-1995 zunächst Aufsichtsratsvorsitzender, dann Inhaber der Eisen- und
Hüttenwerke Thale AG.

Après ses études à l’Ecole polytechnique (X 1961), formation qu'il complète à l'Ecole nationale supérieure de l'aéronautique (1966),
Frédéric d’Allest rejoint en 1966 l’équipe de projet Diamant B au CNES. De 1970 à 1972, il est chef de projet deuxième étage Europa 3 à
l’ELDO. De 1973 à 1976, il exerce au CNES les fonctions de chef de projet Ariane puis de directeur des Lanceurs (1976-1980). Après
avoir présidé Arianespace (1980-1990), il prend la direction générale du CNES (1982-1989) et représente la France au Conseil de l’ESA
(1985-1989). Il retrouve Arianespace comme président d’honneur entre 1990 et 2008.
