Évoluer dans la sphère économique est un rêve qu’Elif porte depuis sa jeunesse,
dans sa Turquie natale, et qui l’amène à traverser l’Atlantique pour faire sa
maîtrise en administration des affaires en finance aux États-Unis.
Après être déménagée au Canada, elle obtient son diplôme de CGA tandis
qu’elle travaille dans l’industrie minière pour le compte d’une importante société
québécoise. En 2008, elle se joint à l’équipe d’Osisko en tant que Vice-présidente et
Contrôleur, séduite par le petit côté entrepreneurial de l’entreprise. « J’ai pu y élargir
mes horizons en touchant à plusieurs aspects de la profession et du secteur d’activités »,
souligne-t-elle.
Éduquée selon les principes de « sortir de sa zone de confort » elle veille à
transmettre aux 15 employés sous sa direction la philosophie du dépassement de
soi. Bien qu’elle convient se montrer parfois exigeante à leur égard, elle manifeste
une grande ouverture quant à leurs suggestions et manque rarement une occasion
de leur témoigner sa reconnaissance.
Elif tient également à faire grandir les femmes dans leurs professions. Impliquée
dans « Premières en Affaires » et « Women in mining », elle les encourage à
s’épanouir selon leurs aspirations. « Déterminez où vous voulez aller et ne vous
mettez pas de barrière. Gardez en tête que la plus importante barrière, c’est nous
qui nous l’imposons. »
Making a place for herself in the world of economics was a dream for Elif during her
youth in her native Turkey. That dream led her across the Atlantic into the United States to
earn her master’s degree in Business Administration in Finance.

After moving to Canada, Elif obtained her CGA degree while working for a major Québec-based
company in the mining industry. In 2008, she joined the Osisko team as Vice President, Controller
and quickly felt at home thanks to the company’s entrepreneurial spirit. “I was able to broaden my
horizons by delving into several aspects of the profession as well as those of the sector,” she says.
Having been coached on the principle of “getting out of one’s comfort zone”, she instilled a “can do
attitude” among the 15 employees under her responsibility. Although she demands a lot from her
team, she is always opened to suggestions and rarely misses an opportunity to show her gratitude.
Elif wants to help other women grow within their professions. Involved in associations such as
“Premières en Affaires” and “Women in Mining”, she encourages her colleagues to strive toward
their goals. “Determine where it is you want to go and then just go for it. Remember that the biggest
barriers are often those that we create for ourselves.”
