ASO MAWON MATNIK UNMASKED
En cette période de Carnaval, la Martinique, notamment, bouillonne.
Et nombreux sont les masques qui défilent !
Mais qui se cache derrière CEUX DE ASO MAWON MATNIK ?
During Carnival, Martinique especially is buzzing with excitement.
So many masks parade down the streets. And what hides behind the
masks of the Carnival group aso Mawon Matnik?
Unis mais différents ! ~ Il y a quelques
semaines, On Air est allé à la rencontre de Jean-Luc
Toussaint, président du groupe à pied Aso Mawon
Matnik. Créé en 2014 au sein de l’association « La
Maison de Léopold », il se compose de quinze femmes
et dix hommes habitant diverses communes de la
Martinique. En tant qu’artiste plasticien, j’encadre nos
ateliers de création de masques, explique JL. Chaque
année, je propose un thème à la troupe (NDLR : en 2017,

On Air met with Jean-Luc Toussaint, President of
the pedestrian Carnival group Aso Mawon Matnik.
Created in 2014 by the association La Maison de
Léopold, the group is composed of fifteen women
and ten men from all across Martinique. “As an
artist, I lead our mask-making workshops,” explains
JL. “Each year, I propose a theme to the group. For
this Carnival, it’s devils and witches. If it’s accepted,
