Rosy Auguste exposera bientôt à Marie-Galante sa série de peintures<br />
intitulée « Mythologies Marines », une nouvelle vision du monde<br />

Rosy Auguste will soon present a new vision of the world,<br />
expressed through water, in her exhibition of paintings titled<br />
Marine Mythologies. Here in these pages is a portrait of the artist.<br />
Les pouvoirs d’un art libre…<br />
Née en 1965 à Marie-Galante, Rosy Auguste<br />
a toujours été fascinée par les Antilles : nature<br />
incroyable, formes aléatoires, palette changeante<br />
de nuances… Et ça tombe bien, car l’artiste, elle<br />
aussi, semble toujours en mouvement, cherchant<br />
à se renouveler régulièrement. Pendant plusieurs<br />
années, j’ai exercé dans le secteur de la santé, en France<br />
métropolitaine, confie-t-elle. Et j’ai pu animer des<br />
ateliers créatifs en milieu psychiatrique, notamment<br />
en adaptant certaines techniques expressionnistes<br />
abstraites (école de New-York) et les découvertes du<br />
Dr R. Vittoz, l’un des premiers psychosomaticiens.<br />
J’apprécie aussi beaucoup les œuvres de J. Sobel,<br />
initiatrice de l’all-over et du dripping et également de J.<br />
Pollock qu’elle a influencé.<br />
Aussi, les toiles – qui peut-être soignent ? - de Rosy<br />
se regardent en deux temps : il s’agit d’abord de<br />
Artistic Freedom<br />
Born on Marie-Galante in 1965, Rosy Auguste has<br />
always been fascinated by the West Indies:<br />
incredible natural setting, unpredictable forms, a<br />
changing palette of tones. And like her colors, the<br />
artist is full of energy, always seeking ways to grow<br />
as an artist, as a human being. “For years, I worked<br />
in the health sector in metropolitan France,” she<br />
explains. “I ran creative workshops for psychiatric<br />
patients, applying some techniques of the New York<br />
School of abstract expressionists and the ideas of<br />
Dr. R. Vittoz, one of the first psychosomatic<br />
specialists. I really admire the works of J. Sobel,<br />
who originated all-over and drip painting, and also<br />
J. Pollock, who was influenced by Sobel.”<br />
Rosy’s (curative?) canvases require a contemplative<br />
gaze. At first, the work elicits a feeling, without<br />
summoning a specific image. Then it is suffused by<br />
