DMCA reiterates call for strict safety<br />

Icon <strong>Yacht</strong>s unveils<br />

Holmes brokerage firm unveiled 46m<br />

Project Gotham last November. Now<br />

the Dutch shipyard has revealed the<br />

interiors, created by Ivan Erdevicki.<br />

Built by the Dutch shipyard and<br />

designed in partnership with ER <strong>Yacht</strong><br />

Design, she promises to be one of the<br />

most iconic yachts of the future. Ivan<br />

Erdevicki styled both the exterior and<br />

interior, whilst Icon <strong>Yacht</strong>s and Van<br />

Oossanen were <strong>res</strong>ponsible for the<br />

naval architecture. The Gotham Project<br />

is able to accommodate 10 guests in<br />

5 cabins, as well as a crew of 10.<br />

The Maritime Inspection Department of the Dubai Maritime City Authority<br />

(DMCA) continues to fol<strong>low</strong>-up with all owners of floating <strong>res</strong>taurants<br />

operating in Dubai to strictly adhere and comply with the DMCA’s safety<br />

and high quality operational requirements in light of the increasing maritime<br />

traffic in Dubai in order to ensure the enhancement of maritime safety and the<br />

efficiency of maritime navigation within Dubai waters.<br />

The initiative made by the DMCA’s Maritime Inspection Department, which is<br />

<strong>res</strong>ponsible for enforcing maritime safety regulations in Dubai, forms part of the<br />

Authority’s efforts ensuring that all floating <strong>res</strong>taurants in Dubai strictly conform<br />

with globally recognized standards and international best practices. It also aims<br />

to guarantee that all marine crafts observe the highest levels of maritime safety<br />

and high quality operational <strong>res</strong>ponsibility off Dubai waters at all times.<br />

Sunseeker reports $7.5 million profit for 2016<br />

Sunseeker International Holdings Ltd. said it returned to profitability in 2016<br />

with a profit of 6 million pounds, or about $7.5 million, and plans<br />

to add 170 new jobs this year. The British boatbuilder said<br />

it delivered five new models in 2016 and saw its order book<br />

increase 41 percent by volume year over year. The figu<strong>res</strong><br />

reflect a 36 million-pound (about $45 million) EBITDA profit<br />

improvement since 2014, and Sunseeker said they are the <strong>res</strong>ult<br />

of a significant <strong>res</strong>tructuring and refocusing of its business, as well<br />

as substantial investment across new products, improved facilities and people.<br />

بريستو هوملز النقاب عن مشروع جوثام والذي يبلغ<br />

طوله 46 متراً.‏ حيث اأعلنت الشركة عن التصميم<br />

الداخلي لليخت والذي بناه اإيفان اإردفيكي وصمم<br />

بالشراكة بين الشركة الهولندية لبناء السفن مع<br />

ER لتصميم اليخوت،‏ وقالت اأنه ‏سيكون اأحد اأهم<br />

اليخوت يف املستقبل.‏ كما بنَت اإيفان اإردفيكي<br />

كل من التصميم الداخلي واخلارجي،‏ يف حين كات<br />

اأيكون لتصميم اليخوت وفان اأوسانن مسوؤولتان<br />

عن الهندسة البحرية.‏ ميكن لقارب جوثام استيعاب<br />

10 ‏ضيوف يف 5 كبائن خمتلفة،‏ فضلاً‏ عن طاقم<br />

صن سيكر تحقق 7.5 مليون دوالراً‏ أرباحاً‏ لعام 2016<br />

‏أعلنت ‏صن ‏سيكر الدولية اأنها حققت اأرباحاً‏ يف عام 2016 تقدر ب 6 مايين جنيه اأو<br />

حوايل 7.5 مليون دولر،‏ وتخطط لإضافة 170 وظيفة جديدة هذا العام.‏ وقالت ‏شركة بناء<br />

السفن الربيطانية انها ‏سلمت خمسة مناذج جديدة يف عام 2016. ولحظت الشركة زيادة<br />

الطلبات بنسبة 41 باملئة من حيث الكمية مقارنةً‏ بالسنوات املاضية.‏ وتعكس الأرقام حتسناً‏<br />

يف الأرباح،‏ قبل حساب الفوائد والرائب والستهاك واملال املخصص لسداد الديون،‏ بقيمة<br />

36 مليون جنيه ‏)حوايل 45 مليون دولر اأمريكي(‏ منذ عام 2014، وقالت ‏صن ‏سيكر اأن هذه الأرباح<br />

standard 5.44” HD gearcase while reducing gear lube levels for increased<br />

efficiency for more power through the prop shaft. The Sport Master is<br />

available in 503, 635 and 762 mm lengths along with 3 skeg machining<br />

options to provide the perfect solution for most high speed applications.<br />

1. Sport Master Housing: Hydro dynamically designed nose cone and<br />

c<strong>res</strong>cent leading edge have less frontal area for reduced drag, <strong>res</strong>ulting in<br />

improved boat performance.<br />

2. Low Water Pickup: It enables the 400R to be mounted higher on the transom.<br />

This will reduce underwater drag while maintaining cooling water f<strong>low</strong> to the engine.<br />

3. Straight Skeg: The standard machined housing with straight skeg is designed for<br />

improved handling and maximum speed on multi-engine non-joystick Piloting<br />

4. Cambered Skeg: The machined housing with a right-hand cambered skeg is<br />

designed to counteract prop torque on single engine boats for improved performance and<br />

5. Guide Plates: Standard on all 400R models, the stainless steel guide plates stabilize the engine and<br />

Advanced Midsection for improved durability and rock solid handling at high speeds and rough seas.<br />

Make a difference<br />

The feel of the 400R is universal, strong, deep-seated<br />

custom graphics package for the 400R puts the exclamation<br />

point on an already powerful statement. The design evokes<br />

With its unique environmental friendly design<br />

ALBWARDY DAMEN delivers landing craft “Qaffay3”<br />

AlBwardy Damen in Jadaf has successfully completed<br />

the construction of High Speed Aluminum Landing Craft<br />

“Qaffay 3” for H.H Ruler’s Office in Dubai. Designed for 25<br />

knots at a full load, the vessel reached a top speed of 37 knots<br />

during her sea trials.<br />

Lars Seistrup, Managing Director of AlBwardy Damen<br />

pointed out “The brief for this landing craft was very specific<br />

and as such the vessel has been specifically designed for her<br />

owners. Completely designed and engineered in-house by<br />

AlBwardy Damen engineering department. The outfitting<br />

is of a higher standard than normal commercial vessels and<br />

the vessel p<strong>res</strong>ents beautifully, almost like a yacht. We are<br />

very proud to design, build and deliver this vessel to such a<br />

p<strong>res</strong>tigious owner.”<br />

The vessel is of environmental friendly design and<br />

completely built in Aluminum. With a <strong>low</strong> draft and capable<br />

to carry one truck or two large 4*4 vehicles at a speed of 25<br />

knots, “Qaffay 3” is specifically designed to operate in the<br />

coastal and shal<strong>low</strong> waters of the United Arab Emirates. The<br />

design can also be adapted to include an enclosed wheelhouse<br />

or an accommodation if needed.<br />

“Qaffay 3” has main dimensions of 21.42mtr length overall,<br />

5.1mtrs breath and 1.8mtrs depth with a total deck carrying<br />

capacity of 14 tons. The Vessel is powered by 4 x 350hp<br />

Yamaha four stroke outboard engines with a cruising range<br />

of <strong>22</strong>5 Nautical Miles. Design and Construction of the Vessel<br />

took 7 months and was completed on schedule.<br />

During sea trials, the vessel achieved a speed of 37 knots,<br />

proving the optimized hull lines with minimum <strong>res</strong>istance<br />

forces and high quality construction. The vessel proved very<br />

stable at these high speeds much to the appreciation of the<br />

Captain and Owners’ Rep<strong>res</strong>entatives. The Vessel was handed<br />

over to the client on 23rd March 2017.<br />

‏"قفاي 3" بتصميم جديد صديق للبيئة<br />

جنحت ‏شركة ‏"دامن البواردي"‏ يف بناء ‏سفينة اإنزال عالية السرعة ‏سُ‏ ‏ميت<br />

ب ‏"قفاي 3" وهي مصنوعة من الألومنيوم مت تصميمها خصيصاً‏ ملكتب ‏سمو<br />

حاكم دبي.‏ ‏صُ‏ ممت السفينة اأولياً‏ لتصل اإىل ‏سرعة قدرها 25 عقدة يف حال<br />

كانت احلمولة كاملة اإل اأنها وصلت اإىل ‏سرعة قصوى قدرها 37 عقدة خلال<br />

فترة جتربتها.‏<br />

وقال لرس ‏سيستروب،‏ املدير التنفيذي لشركة ‏"دامن الباوردي":‏ ‏"مت تصميم<br />

السفينة وجتهيزها بالكامل من قبل قسم الهندسة والتصميم اخلاص بالشركة<br />

حيث كان ملخص تصميم السفينة موجزاً‏ وحمدداً,‏ وبذلك ‏صممت السفينة<br />

خصيصاً‏ لصاحبها.‏ واستخدمنا اأعلى مستوى من املواد لتجهيز الإطارات<br />

الداخلية واخلارجية وبذلك متيزت السفينة عن باقي السفن التجارية العادية<br />

حيث اأصبح ‏شكلها جمياً‏ جداً‏ يقارب ‏شكل اليخت.‏ نحن فخورون جداً‏ بتصميم<br />

وبناء وتسليم هذه السفينة اإىل مالكها وهو من اأهم زبائننا املتميزين".‏<br />

كما ‏صُ‏ ممت السفينة لتكون ‏صديقة للبيئة لذلك بُنيت من الألومنيوم.‏ ميكن<br />

للسفينة اأن حتمل ‏شاحنة واحدة فقط اأو ‏سيارتان كبرتان من طراز 4*4 وتصل<br />

بتلك احلمولة اإىل ‏سرعة قدرها 25 عقدة.‏ ومت تصميم ‏"قفاي 3" خصيصاً‏ للإبحار<br />

يف املياه الساحلية والضحلة يف دولة الإمارات العربية املتحدة.‏<br />

يبلغ طول السفينة الإجمايل 21.42 متراً‏ وفيها مساحة داخلية تصل اإىل<br />

5.1 متراً‏ وعمقها 1.8 مراً.‏ ويتسع ‏سطح السفينة اإىل حمولة تبلغ 14 طناً.‏ كما مت<br />

تزويد السفينة باأربعة حمركات خارجية من طراز ياماها 350HP لتصل ‏سرعة<br />

السفينة اإىل <strong>22</strong>5 ميلاً‏ بحرياً.‏ واستغرق بناء السفينة 7 اأشهر ومت تسليمها يف<br />

الوقت املحدد.‏ حققت السفينة ‏رعة قدرها 37 عقدة اأثناء فرة جتربتها مما يثبت<br />

اأن هيكل السفينة يتمتع مبقاومة قليلة واأن بنيتها تتمتع بجودة عالية.‏ واأثبتت<br />

Cooperation among the Authorities to<br />

promote UAE as one of world’s leading<br />

maritime hubs<br />

he passion and culture for boating<br />

in UAE is becoming more and<br />

more significant, as well as an<br />

important profitable business for<br />

the region. Many marina projects are<br />

p<strong>res</strong>ently under development in UAE<br />

and, only in Dubai, there are 1,886<br />

existing operating wet berths and 2,500<br />

upcoming berths planned along Dubai<br />

coastline, Dubai offshore artificial<br />

islands and Dubai water canal.<br />

To enhance the UAE’s competitiveness<br />

to become one of the globe’s most<br />

important maritime hub, the UAE<br />

Government is making a significant<br />

effort to create a ‘boating-friendly’<br />

country, facilitating the cooperation<br />

of different involved Authorities in<br />

the maritime licencing. In February<br />

2017, the Federal Transport Authority<br />

(FTA) and Dubai Maritime City<br />

Authority (DMCA) signed an important<br />

agreement in support of the<br />

integration of the UAE’s federal and<br />

local government entities. As mentioned<br />

in the joint statement, “scope of<br />

the agreement is to establish common<br />

regulations for promoting the maritime<br />

licensing system according to<br />

the highest international standards in<br />

order to help reinforcing the status of<br />

Dubai and the <strong>res</strong>t of the UAE among<br />

the world’s most prominent maritime<br />

and logistical cent<strong>res</strong>”, and “make the<br />

country one of the world’s vital maritime<br />

hubs”.<br />

To further promote their partnership,<br />

both parties have agreed to jointly<br />

organize the procedu<strong>res</strong> and facilitate<br />

the registration, licensing and<br />

renewing of marine crafts in Dubai by<br />

establishing a single window system for<br />

maritime licensing handled by DMCA.<br />

Moreover, the two sides exp<strong>res</strong>sed<br />

their commitment to jointly organize<br />

relevant conferences and workshops<br />

as well as rep<strong>res</strong>ent the UAE in<br />

international and regional conferences<br />

to exchange experiences, expertise, and<br />

knowledge with global participants.<br />

Although this new procedure is p<strong>res</strong>ently<br />

applicable only to the Emirate<br />

of Dubai, it is a first important step<br />

toward the alignment of marine regulation<br />

of UAE.<br />

Superyachts visiting UAE<br />

Superyacht industry is a niche market<br />

and foreign superyachts are more<br />

and more attracted by UAE luxury’s<br />

destinations, with beautiful coasts and<br />

landscape attractions. The Country<br />

can become a successful destination<br />

stop on the superyacht cruising circuits<br />

and, most important, offer in the<br />

winter season an alternative wintering<br />

homeport to the popular established<br />

destinations (Caribbean). Owners and<br />

especially Captains will select UAE<br />

and Gulf Region as their preferred<br />

wintering homeport only if they will<br />

find a “yachting friendly” environment<br />

and high-level facilities.<br />

Despite the many marina projects<br />

upcoming in Dubai, which include<br />

superyachts berths and facilities, there<br />

are still important aspects to be solved<br />

to improve accessibility of foreignflagged<br />

superyachts to Dubai and the<br />

UAE. Rules for navigation permit in<br />

UAE very often conflict with <strong>res</strong>idence<br />

concessions on yachts. At p<strong>res</strong>ent,<br />

foreign-flagged superyachts are granted<br />

to stay 21 days in UAE from the day of<br />

their first entry. In case of extension, if<br />

the yachts want to cruise in UAE waters,<br />

they will need to obtain ‘mission visa’<br />

or ‘UAE <strong>res</strong>ident visa’ for the crew on<br />

board, through a process that takes time<br />

and originally designed for commercial<br />

ships/cargo rather than superyachts,<br />

which expect more flexibility.<br />

Furthermore, the permitted length<br />

of stay depends on nationality of yacht<br />

owners and crew. In Dubai, Dubai<br />

Maritime City Authority issues a<br />

renewable 90 days cruising permit<br />

for visiting foreign-flagged yachts,<br />

without necessity to obtain visas for<br />

their crew. However, this procedure is<br />

not federal and is applicable only to<br />

the Emirate of Dubai.<br />

Therefore, yachts will face the same<br />

problems if they want to sail out of<br />

the Dubai waters and through the<br />

other Emirates. In certain Emirates,<br />

yachts needs to go to commercial ports<br />

for inward immigration clearance<br />

formalities, and foreign-flagged yachts<br />

must clear in and out of every Emirate,<br />

with different rules and regulations,<br />

which is very time consuming and not<br />

‘attractive’ for yachting traffic.<br />

United Arab Emirates and<br />

Emirati Riviera<br />

Ideally, in an “Emirati Riviera” within<br />

the United Arab Emirates, yachts<br />

should be al<strong>low</strong>ed to sail from one<br />

marina to another among the Emirates.<br />

A designated port agent should carry out<br />

the clearance formalities at <strong>res</strong>pective<br />

immigration, and, as occurring in most<br />

countries, yachts crew should be cleared<br />

in on arrival and be given “Crew Shore<br />

Pass Cards” by immigration to al<strong>low</strong><br />

them to go ashore.<br />

The simplification of cruising permits,<br />

visa procedu<strong>res</strong> and, most important,<br />

the alignment of the maritime<br />

licensing and sailing system among the<br />

Emirates, will definitely incentive the<br />

local yachting industry, and will attract<br />

the international superyacht traffic<br />

already fascinated by the UAE luxury<br />

developments, high-end facilities and<br />

established marine culture.<br />

Zuccon p<strong>res</strong>ents the<br />

PY Heritage 45 M project<br />

PY Heritage 45M marks the start of a new collaboration<br />

which pays tribute to Gerhard Gilgenast, one of the<br />

most important architects to work with Picchiotti<br />

<strong>Yacht</strong>s in the past. The layout of the yacht leaves most<br />

of the main deck free to accommodate two tenders (a sailboat<br />

and a motor yacht, both of nine meters in length) and two jet<br />

skis. Another distinctive feature is the layout of the interior.<br />

The cross-section has been designed with a floor to ceiling<br />

height of three meters on the main deck and the extensive<br />

use of glass. The designer has worked to recall the classic and<br />

elegance of the lines for which Perini Navi and Picchiotti<br />

<strong>Yacht</strong>s are renowned, while also incorporating an innovative<br />

approach to allocate outdoor areas for water toys.<br />

The outdoor areas become liveable and, when the tenders<br />

are in the water, the bow portion of the main deck becomes<br />

a large lounge area that blends in with the interiors and the<br />

bow cockpit, creating a unencumbered space dedicated to<br />

entertaining guests. The areas <strong>res</strong>erved for the owner and<br />

guests are all on the <strong>low</strong>er deck. The owner also has a large<br />

suite with a private terrace in the stern area.<br />

plastic technology. The fast and fabulous yacht is a joy to look<br />

The open sport yacht that can accommodate six to eight<br />

guests would be amazing for day touring. The design of the<br />

Lexus Sport <strong>Yacht</strong> concept has the upper deck and outer hull<br />

seamlessly bonded around the inner structure, each piece a<br />

single massive hand-laid composite of two-part polyurethane<br />

epoxy <strong>res</strong>in reinforced with hand-laid woven carbon fiber<br />

The fabulous was designed to be the fastest with an<br />

entire update made starting from engine, performance of<br />

the steering and the shape all made to make it the fastest<br />

Italian car in the world. The interior of the car was all<br />

made from high quality materials as the seats are made of<br />

carbon fiber, the interior parts of Forged Composites, and<br />

the upholstery is made from Alcantara. All extremely light<br />

materials increase performance.<br />

Another high-end <strong>res</strong>idential project proves UAE to be exceptionally attractive for<br />

The project was designed by Antonio<br />

Citterio Patricia Viel and Partners, taking<br />

into consideration all life and luxurious<br />

aspects to create efficient and open living<br />

spaces, with interiors finished to the<br />

highest quality. Homes have the view of<br />

natural green gardens interspersed with<br />

wood terraces, and the pristine sands of<br />

the private beaches offering spectacular<br />

Abu Dhabi Ports has recently opened<br />

Sir Bani Yas Cruise Beach, offering<br />

cruise ship passengers a new and unique<br />

destination with “unmatched” tourism<br />

experiences. The facility has attracted<br />

more regional cruise operators which<br />

will play a vital role in further increasing<br />

Abu Dhabi’s cruise passenger traffic,<br />

which is estimated to grow by 9 % in<br />

the 2016-17 season.<br />

Sir Bani Yas is a nature <strong>res</strong>erve<br />

packed with endangered wildlife<br />

collected by Abu Dhabi’s late ruler,<br />

Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan. It is home<br />

to a herd of about 400 Arabian oryx<br />

which are extinct in the wild, and there<br />

are thousands of gazelles and antelopes<br />

plus ostrich, peacocks, deer, giraffes,<br />

hyenas and cheetahs.<br />

Sir Bani Yas Cruise Beach is the Gulf<br />

region’s only dedicated desert island<br />

cruise stopover and was developed in<br />

keeping with local culture. It extends<br />

over a 1.3 km stretch of land, and has<br />

the capacity to double in size to meet<br />

future market demands.<br />

The official launch of Sir Bani Yas<br />

Cruise Beach coincided with the arrival<br />

of the 18-deck vessel, MSC Fantasia,<br />

which made Abu Dhabi Cruise<br />

terminal its winter-sun home and set<br />

sail to Sir Bani Yas with almost 4000<br />

passengers. The beach is expected to<br />

attract more than 60,000 passengers<br />

from 39 stopover cruise line calls in its<br />
