Sport master gear case:
The all-new Sport Master gearcase was developed specifically for the
400R to provide the ultimate high performance package. The Sport Master
shares the same 1.75:1 gear ratio and durable internal components as the
standard 5.44” HD gearcase while reducing gear lube levels for increased
efficiency for more power through the prop shaft. The Sport Master is
available in 503, 635 and 762 mm lengths along with 3 skeg machining
options to provide the perfect solution for most high speed applications.
1. Sport Master Housing: Hydro dynamically designed nose cone and
crescent leading edge have less frontal area for reduced drag, resulting in
improved boat performance.
2. Low Water Pickup: It enables the 400R to be mounted higher on the transom.
This will reduce underwater drag while maintaining cooling water flow to the engine.
3. Straight Skeg: The standard machined housing with straight skeg is designed for
improved handling and maximum speed on multi-engine non-joystick Piloting
equipped boats.
4. Cambered Skeg: The machined housing with a right-hand cambered skeg is
designed to counteract prop torque on single engine boats for improved performance and
handling. Left and right-hand cambered skeg Sport Master gear cases are standard on all 400R
Joystick Piloting models to provide the best system performance.
5. Guide Plates: Standard on all 400R models, the stainless steel guide plates stabilize the engine and
Advanced Midsection for improved durability and rock solid handling at high speeds and rough seas.
6. Engine Mounts: High performance engine mounts designed in conjunction with Mercury’s exclusive Advanced
Midsection for the perfect combination of handling and overall running quality.

custom graphics package for the 400R puts the exclamation
point on an already powerful statement. The design evokes
speed, making the 400R look like its cruising past at 160
km/h, even when standing still.
Seven different colors are available for the graphics
package on the Cold Fusion White 400R and are designed
to reflect your personal style or match the color palette of
the boat. Either way, heads will turn, even if you won’t be
in view for long. Phantom Black available only with Red/
Carbon graphics package.
