Present simple vs. present continuous
With the present continuous, remember:
• to use be in affirmative sentences.
✓ We are going to the shopping centre.
✗ We going to the shopping centre.
• to use the word order Wh- + be + subject + ing
in questions.
✓ What is the gorilla doing?
✗ What the gorilla is doing?
Remember that:
• we use the present simple to talk about facts, habits
and routines.
• we use the present continuous to talk about actions
in progress and temporary activities not necessarily
happening at the time of speaking.
• we don’t usually use these verbs in the present
continuous:
be have (for possession) like love want need
