Care instructions for SMARTGLAS
The SMARTGLAS surface has an outstanding visual depth effect. SMARTGLAS is a
strong and impact-resistant surface material. The poreless, homogeneous material
is not only hygienic and officially approved for use in contact with foods, but also
resistant to fungi and bacteria.
The product is resistant to the usual household chemicals and to such substances
as disinfectants; however, prolonged exposure to aggressive substances can leave
marks or damage the material. Resistance to chemicals tested in accordance with
DIN 68861-1.
The user is responsible for testing the material‘s resistance to substances other than
those listed in this table.
SMARTGLAS is a thermoplastic polymer material and therefore only suitable for
surface temperatures of max. 80°C. This means that depending on the type of hob
and resulting radiated temperatures, sufficiently large clearances have to be ensured.
Minimum hob clearance
Induction, ceramic, cast iron: ≥ 50 mm
Gas: ≥ 200 mm
We recommend the following cleaners for surfaces: Cleaner for kitchen doors high
gloss (BA FR HGL 500) and Matt and universal cleaner (BA FR SM 500).
The surface is finished with a high-gloss coating that is resistant to scratching and
abrasion, thus essentially eliminating the usual traces of household use.
The surface is easy to clean - most stains and fingerprints can be removed with
water and a microfibre cloth. Standard household cleaning liquids can also be used
to clean the surface.
Strong solvents, special cleaners (e.g. for clogged drains, industrial cleaners, etc.)
and aggressive scouring agents or strong chemical substances can damage the
surface.
Stubborn stains should be removed with a soft sponge or microfibre cloth and
commercially available cleaner for plastics or liquid cleaning emulsion (without
scouring agents).
Do not use any abrasive cleaning sponges with a scouring pad (e.g. Scotch Brite, pot
cleaners, etc.) or brushes, as these may scratch the surface if undue force is applied.
Mechanical cleaning methods should not be used, such as cleaning with razor
blades, knives or scrapers, etc. These may scratch the surface and damage the
abrasion-resistant coating.
In the case of improper use, such as if the burners are not or only partially covered
when switched on for long periods or if there is direct contact with hot pots and pans,
etc., temperature damage can occur to the surface.
