Morocco: all the lights are green
Khalid Mimi, Director France for Morocco’s National Tourism Office, is
heading the local team at IFTM Top Resa. We asked him how tourism
has been progressing in his country in recent times.
We finished 2018 with 3.8 million French
tourists, a rise of +8% compared to 2017. This
confirmed the growth we already had in the
previous year, also of 8%, meaning the growth
is structured and constant. In the seven first
months of this year, the y/y growth has been in
the order of 10%. Indeed, today, one of the first
reflexes of a French tourist when planning his
or her holidays is to travel to Morocco.
This growth comes thanks to the work of
receptive operators, the institutions and the
airlines, and is crowned by the work of the
Moroccan National Tourism Office. It is also
thanks to the country’s political stability,
the resilience of the product, and the deep
knowledge held by French travellers of the
Moroccan travel product and our culture,
which is rich and alive: from Tangiers, which
has been beautifully restored; passing by Fes
which is the spiritual capital, and where the
medina and indeed the entire city have been
renovated; Rabat, where the landscape has
been metamorphosed, and which is the city of
light; to Marrakech, which has a cultural and
artistic effervescence. While we have nine sites
on the UNESCO world heritage list, our offer is
not just limited to culture, as our sea shores
How important is IFTM Top Resa for your
destination?
IFTM Top Resa is the unavoidable meeting place
of the entire French travel profession. Its timing
is perfect, as it takes place just upstream of the
planning phase of the next holiday season. It
allows us to see our partners, and to analyse
whether there is anything we need to improve
in terms of marketing
NOUS AVONS TERMINÉ
2018 AVEC 3,8 MILLIONS DE
TOURISTES FRANÇAIS, SOIT
UNE HAUSSE DE + 8 % PAR
RAPPORT À 2017.
Khalid Mimi, Directeur
