si occupa totalmente di produzione
televisiva, con fiction di grande
successo Commesse e il suo seguito e i
tre film tv con Sabrina Ferilli Angela,
Matilda e Lucia, e cinematografica
quali Il Mercante di Venezia, con Al
Pacino. In pochi forse conoscono
però una passione nascosta ma molto
sentita dell’attrice: quella per l’arte. La
Fenech possiede infatti una notevole
collezione di opere d’arte, sia antiche
che moderne, acquistate in anni di
frequentazione a fiere e mercati d’arte
italiani e stranieri.
Signora Fenech, a quando risale questa
sua forte passione verso l’arte?
«Fin da ragazzina nutrivo un interesse
verso l’arte, la pittura. E questa
passione è cresciuta con me ed è
diventata proprio un vero amore
verso tutte le forme d’arte, come la
pittura, la scultura, il disegno. sia per
l’arte antica sia per quella moderna e
contemporanea.»
Nell’ambito dell’arte moderna, ha degli
artisti in particolare che lei colleziona?
«Preferisco non fare nomi di artisti
rispetto ad altri. Ma vi posso assicurare
che nella scelta di un’opera d’arte seguo
il mio istinto. Certi artisti mi parlano
più di altri, quando osservo le loro

from past eras as well as modern and contemporary
art.”
Within the realm of modern art, are there particular
artists whose work you collect?
“I prefer not to mention particular artists over others.
However, I can assure you that when choosing a work
of art, I follow my instincts. Certain artists speak to
me more than others when I observe their works, but
I absolutely do not follow fashions or leading names.
Instead, I feel attracted to a painting or sculpture, and
that is the object I must have.”
Which Italian art fairs do you normally attend?
“I try to attend everything that the market offers,
as much as my schedule permits. In general, I try
not to miss the openings of the Verona, Milan and
Bologna fairs, where I meet my friend Stefano
Contini; he is an art gallery owner who always gives
me excellent advice regarding the latest happenings
on the international market.” As a producer, your
work displays a countertrend to your films as an
actress – you launched a genre of TV series that focuses
on women, for example “Commesse”. In addition,
you have distributed quality films such as “Monster”,
for which Chalize Theron won an Oscar, and “The
Merchant of Venice”, with Oscar-award-winning
actors Al Pacino and Jeremy Irons.
“It was not easy to produce Giorgio Capitani’s
“Commesse” – the managers of Rai did not approve
of the idea of having women as the protagonists. I
had to struggle for almost two and a half years to
convince them. Actresses such as Veronica Pivetti and
Anna Valle debuted on that series, acting alongside
Ferilli. The series was very successful and was copied
in every way. However, my series had another layer – I
