On your bicycle, you will see natural and architectural treasures, breathtaking landscapes, historic-artistic views and exciting water scenarios. The Greenway of the Morla Torrent Your route starts with the splendid and elegant Bergamo, one of the fourth Italian cities that maintain its walled historic centre: the charm of the past with its medieval skyline is unspoiled. Begin to pedal beneath the sixteenth century walls, near the Chiesa di Sant’Agostino, two km far from the Old Town centre. Your bicycle will glide on the cycle track along the bed of the Morla Torrent. You will be in Val Verde, where few farms, the tended lawns, the sun on the wide wheat fields create a scenario that could have inspired a past-times painter. The routes will end below the wood that embraces the torrent, in Pontesecco with its splendid views over Valmarina. Walk around Piazza Vecchia, the city’s hustle and bustle with the towering Palazzo della Ragione, the Torre Civica, Palazzo Nuovo, the fifteenth century Dome, the Cappella Colleoni, the Baptistery and the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore. into two by the river with five bridges. You will continue on a former railroad, passing through several charming galleries with automatic lights and arriving in San Giovanni Bianco, a characteristic village placed where the river joints up with the Enna Torrent, which flows towards the Val Taleggio. You will be mesmerized by the narrow lanes, the porticos and the seven bridges, three on the Enna Torrent and four on the Brembo River. Then, you will continue towards Lenna, where the two Brembo’s branches join; the route will end in Piazza Brembana, a trading and resort centre. The cycle-road of the Valle Seriana The 50 km long Valle Seriana, which runs from north to south, offers several enchanting scenarios: valleys with gentle slopes, basins, plateaus and alpine views. You will ride along the shore of the Serio River, in the areas of Colzate and Casnigo, which are divided by the river itself and linked by a bridge. Afterwards, you may plan the first stop: the Monte Cavlera is the perfect setting for the Santuario di San Patrizio, which towers over the village. While you continue riding towards Ponte Nossa, the landscape gets rougher with prominent alpine features. The village hosts textile and mine industries along with the Museo dei Magli, which is worth a visit. You may visit also the sixteenth century Chiesa dell’An nunciazione di Maria, which was enlarged in the nineteenth century. The final stop is Clusone, with the Chiesa del Paradiso and its ancient frescos. There is also the gracious Piazza dell’Orologio with the Palazzo Comunale, which is a mocked fourteenth century castle.
