Happy Birthday Buon Compleanno Chicken, cotechino, eggs, wine. Cheese, toothbrush, cookies and sanitary towels. Today I turn thirty. Not that many but I’m not at all happy and I hate this supermarket. I always forget to buy something and it’s the third time that I’ve had to come back. I don’t know why I decided to celebrate tonight, I don’t feel like cooking and I don’t want to hear my mother say that it is late. Late to find a man who will put up with me and to have a job that doesn’t change every month. My dad will keep quiet and my brother will start to talk about how much he paid for his new car. I don’t have a car, I use the bus and my bicycle, and when he starts talking I think that, deep down, I never liked him. Tonight maybe he’ll tell the story of how he made me stand still and keep a pigeon on my head. Pigeons smell and carry many diseases. He laughed. Tardi per trovare un uomo che riesca a sopportarmi e per avere un lavoro che non cambi ogni mese. Mio padre starà zitto e mio fratello prenderà a raccontare di quanto ha pagato la sua nuova macchina. Io non ho una macchina, mi muovo in autobus e in bicicletta, e quando lui comincia a parlare mi viene in mente che, in fondo, non mi è mai piaciuto. Stasera magari racconterà di quando mi obbligò a stare ferma immobile e a tenere un piccione in testa. I piccioni puzzano e portano un sacco di malattie. Lui rideva.
