It is with pleasure that our two
institutions present this two-decade
survey of the work of Cindy Sherman.
Hailed as one of the most important
artists of her generation, Sherman
explores the nature and impact
of representation, the manipulations of
which are so fundamental to our
image-based contemporary society as
to seem invisible. Likewise, the
themes she undertakes—from the identity
