MARRADINel cuore dell’Appennino Tosco Romagnolo, Marradiforma, con Palazzuolo sul Senio e Firenzuola,l’Alto Mugello, la parte più alta e montuosa del Mugello.Il centro storico è caratterizzato dal PalazzoComunale, dal Palazzo Fabbroni, un tempo dimoradi una delle famiglie più importanti del paese. Alsuo fianco la Chiesa del Suffragio con importantiimpronte settecentesche. Palazzo Cannone: chiudePiazza Scalelle; risale al XV-XVI secolo. PalazzoTorriani: al suo interno sono presenti affreschi diGalileo Chini. Ricche di importanti opera d’arte lechiese del comune, come la Chiesa di San Lorenzoall’interno della quale si tavole attribuite al “Maestroda Marradi”, il Monastero delle Domenicanedella SS. Annunziata costruito nel 1575 dalla famigliaFabbroni. Notevolissima e oggetto di un recenterestauro l’Abbazia di Santa Reparata (Badia delBorgo), importante complesso monastico risalenteal 1050, appartenuto prima all’Ordine dei Benedettini,successivamente a quello dei Vallombrosani.Fu ristrutturato in forme barocche nel 1741/65.Sopra la frazione di Biforco si trova la Rocca di Castiglionchio,eretta in posizione strategica dai ContiGuidi. Chiamata anticamente “Castrum Leonis”,nel 1208 apparteneva ai Pagani di Susinana, finché,dopo aspri conflitti, passò sotto Firenze nel 1448.Successivamente, il forte, non essendo più adattoalle tecniche moderne di guerra, fu smantellato pervolere del Granduca Cosimo I de’ Medici.43In the centre of the Tosco Romagnolo Apennines,Marradi, together with Palazzuolo sul Senio andFirenzuolo, makes up the Alto Mugello (High Mugello),the highest and most mountainous part ofMugello . The historical centre has a Palazzo ComunaleTown Hall with large loggias formed by archeson columns, over one of these there are the units ofmeasure once used for agricultural and commercialexchanges; Palazzo Fabbroni, once home to one ofthe most important families of the town. Next to thisis the Church del Suffragio with important seventeenthcentury touches. Palazzo Cannone that is atone end of Piazza Scalelle dates from the 15th 16thcentury, whilst Palazzo Torriani has frescoes by GalileoChini. Many of the churches in the area haveimportant works of art inside them; the Chiesa diSan Lorenzo has some panels thought to be by the“Maestro di Marradi” , the Monastero delle Domenicanedelle SS Annunziata was built by the Torrianifamily in 1575. Important, and subject to a recentrestoration is the Abbey of Santa Reparata (at Badiadel Borgo), a monastery complex dating from 1050,first belonging to the Ordine dei Benedettini andthen to the Vallombrosiani. It was restored between1741 and 1765 in baroque stile, but the sturdysquare bell tower maintains its original aspect. Theexternal façade of the church is simple, in stone, buthe inside is full of light in the baroque stile. In thesacristy there are some paintings by the “Maestro diMarradi”, fom the Ghirlandesca school, dating fromthe end of the 1400’s. Above the hamlet of Biforcois the fortress Rocca di Castiglionchio, built by theConti Guidi in a strategic position. Once known as“Castrum Leonis”, in1208 it belonged to the Papinifamily from Susinana, and then, after bitter conflictswas taken by the Florentines in1448. Successivelythe fortress was not adapt for the more modern wartechniques and was dismantled by Gran Duca CosimoI de’Medici.
