BARBANA
Barbana è una delle più grandi fra il centinaio di isole che costellano la
laguna di Grado, estrema propaggine orientale di quel sistema lagunare
che anticamente abbracciava tutto l'arco dell'Adriatico e che ora è stato
in parte sommerso.
Qui sorge il più antico Santuario mariano della Regione: le sue prime
tracce portano infatti all'anno 582.
Un simbolo vero e proprio per l'antica comunità gradese, da sempre legata
al mare anche nelle sue espressioni di religiosità, attraverso un culto
mariano radicato nei secoli, oltre che sull'isola, anche nel resto del Friuli
Venezia Giulia.
Il "Perdon di Barbana" è una delle più antiche e sentite tradizioni locali,
dal fascino tutto particolare.
Dal 1237 ogni prima domenica di luglio si svolge attraverso la laguna la
suggestiva processione del "Perdon": per ringraziare la Madonna di Barbana
per aver salvato l'isola e la popolazione della laguna da una terribile
epidemia, una lunga fila di barche imbandierate
a festa parte da Grado per addentrarsi nella laguna fino a Barbana, nel cui
santuario è custodita una preziosa e miracolosa statua della Madonna.
Così da oltre 700 anni i gradesi ringraziano la Vergine per averli salvati da
una terribile epidemia.

Barbana is one of the biggest of the
100 Isles of the Grado Lagoon, extreme
eastern offshoot of the Lagoon
that in ancient times took in the whole
arc of the north–Adriatic Sea and that
today is in part submerged.
Here stands the oldest Marian sanctuary
of the region: in fact the first traces
of it date back to the year 582. It is
a true symbol for the ancient community
of Grado, forever and always linked
to the sea even in its religion where the
Marian cult is and has been for centuries
firmly established, not only on the
island but also in nearby Friuli.
Barbana ist eine von der größten hunderter Inseln der
Lagune von Grado, ein Lagunensystems, das in alten
Zeiten den ganzen Adriabogen umfasste und heute
zum Teil unter Wasser liegt.
Hier befindet sich das ältes te Marienheiligtum der Region,
dessen Ursprung auf das Jahr 582 zurückgeht. Ein
wahres Symbol für die antike Gemeinschaft Grados, die
seit jeher eng mit dem Meer verbunden ist, auch was
das Äussern der Religiosität durch den Marienkult betrifft,
der seit Jahrhunderten nicht nur auf der Insel sondern
auch im nahen Friaul verwurzelt ist.
Der "Perdon de Barbana" ist eine der ältesten Traditionen,
und übet eine ganz besondere Faszination aus.
Seit 1237 wird durch die Lagune, jeweils an jedem ersten
Julisonntag, die Prozession des "Perdon" von der
Insel Barbana abgehalten: eine lange Reihe von festlich
beflaggten Booten verlässt das Städtchen Grado und
erreicht über die Lagune die kleine Insel von Barbana,
wo in der Wallfahrtskirche eine wertvolle Wunderfigur
einer Madonna steht. So seit über 700 Jahren feiern die
Gradoeinwohner die Heilige Jungfrau, die sie von einer

Every first Sunday in July, from the year
1237, the suggestive "Perdon" procession
crosses the lagoon from the Island
of Grado to that of Barbana: a long line
of dressed boats leaves Grado entering
the lagoon till the little isle of Barbana,
in whose Sanctuary is kept a precious
and miraculous statue of a Madonna.
