Walker Lumber Hosts Final 2016 Meeting Photos By Paul Miller Jr. State College, PA–The 2016 monthly meetings for the Penn-York Lumbermen’s Club ended here recently with an event at the Toftrees Resort. This meeting was hosted by Walker Lumber Co. Inc., of Woodland, PA, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Forest Products Association. The day of networking included a golf game and sporting clays. Winners of the golf game included: Jeff Stetna (low gross, 82); Don Fetzer (low callaway, 73); Gary Seiber (closest to the pin #10); John Sivulka (longest drive, 65 and older); Jack Monnoyer (longest drive); and Norm Steffy (longest putt). Chris Smith had the highest score in sporting clays while Sam Skura was the day’s “Future Winner.” These outdoor events were followed by dinner, at which the guest speaker was Tom Inman, representing the Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturers Inc. Host Walker Lumber, according to information available in the Hardwood Purchasing Handbook published by Miller Wood Trade Publications, annually produces 11 million board feet of quality Hardwood lumber, which includes the following species: Cherry, Red and White Oak, Poplar, Hickory, Hard and Soft Maple and Ash in 4/4 through 8/4 thicknesses. Products include kiln-dried lumber, green lum- ber, saw logs, veneer logs, pallet material and bi-products. The meeting’s co-host, the Pennsylvania Forest Products Association, began in 1980 as the Hardwood Lumber Manufacturers Association. The group was created to provide a unified voice on state legislative and regulatory issues. Today PFPA supports and promotes the forest products industry in a multitude of ways. The association is headquartered in Harrisburg, PA.
