ATRIUM | DECKS 2–3 TERJE RISBERG 1949 X NORWAY X POLYMER ETCHING For Norwegian artist Terje Risberg, who grew up near the Oslofjord, nature is the most interesting subject matter. He is particularly inspired by and has a personal relationship with the nature from his childhood surroundings. When Risberg begins working on a new image, it’s usually with a camera in hand, with the camera functioning as his notepad. Yet he rarely uses the photos as they are; he deletes, inserts and mixes different photos together. In his graphic work, he makes simple and balanced compositions of different landscapes. There are no figures or people; he focuses solely on the pure lines of the landscape, wishing to invite the viewer to reflect upon the relationship between their inner nature and the nature that surrounds us. 30
