CHALLENGES
1. No broad local campaigns targetting and discussing sexual
diverse practices of Curacao Men
2. No General Societal debate on Sexual Diversity and the place it has in
the Curacaoan (Caribbean) Culture:
3. There is no general debate of the treatment of sex as commodity and
means of transaction of commodities outside of marriage, whether it
be heterosexual or homosexual sex.
4. Modern homo-and bisexuality are considered: IMPORTED
There is no Place for the MSM to define his own sexual identity and
move towards the self-acceptance and societal acceptance necessary
for effective prevention.
5. MSM living with HIV have to deal with a double stigma, often leading
them to resort to the three ways out at their disposal: DENIAL,
IMMIGRATION, SUICIDE.
6. There is no real psycho-social support system for PLWA in Curacao, let
alone a support system for those who are MSM, promoting
continuation of unsafe sex practices…
NEEDS: CONSCIENTIZATION, ADVOCACY, PREVENTION, SUPPORT
