J&R Schugel Announces<br />

New Pay Increase<br />

J&R Schugel Trucking, Inc. an employeeowned<br />

nationally recognized carrier, recently<br />

announced plans to release one of the most<br />

comprehensive pay packages in the trucking<br />

industry. This pay increase is the company’s<br />

highest yet, raising driver compensation as<br />

much as 22 percent.<br />

“As an employee-owned company, we<br />

asked our drivers what was important to them;<br />

we analyzed and reviewed our total compensation<br />

package. We listened to what our drivers<br />

wanted and we’ve delivered it,” said Clay<br />

Merches, Vice President of Safety and Human<br />

Resources for J&R Schugel Trucking. “A first<br />

year driver can earn over $51,000 a year and<br />

our top veteran driver is expected to earn over<br />

$78,000 a year.”<br />

The new pay increase raises the base pay to<br />

38 cents per mile with the potential to add an<br />

additional 6 cents per mile in incentives. The<br />

incentives, which are primarily performancebased,<br />

are calculated according to utilization,<br />

miles per gallon and safety.<br />

A retention incentive is also available to new<br />

incoming drivers. As part of this pay package<br />

increase, J&R Schugel also announced an<br />

increase in per diem to 11 cents per mile and<br />

added $100 of holiday pay for Thanksgiving<br />

and Christmas Day.<br />

In addition to top industry pay, J&R Schugel<br />

drivers also enjoy state-of-the-art equipment<br />

furnished with APU’s and Qualcomm that has<br />

Wi-Fi capability and navigation; EzPass, Pre-<br />

Pass and In-Cab Scanning. They offer OTR,<br />

reefer and dry van opportunities; dedicated<br />

nationwide team freight and have no money<br />

down lease purchase program. The company<br />

Announces Driver Pay<br />

Increase<br />

Cargo Transporters, Inc. announced that<br />

driver pay has increased, effective July 5,<br />

20<strong>15</strong>. The increase will be approximately 5%<br />

for over-the-road (OTR) drivers. This latest<br />

increase is coming on the heels of multiple<br />

increases. All OTR drivers received a 2 1/2%<br />

increase in February 20<strong>15</strong> and a 10.1%<br />

increase given in calendar year 2014. In total,<br />

our OTR drivers will experience a 17.6%<br />

increase in a <strong>15</strong>-month period.<br />
