RESUMO: Este artigo apresenta opiniões históricas e sociológicas a respeito do Grande ABC, em particular, de Diadema. Na primeira parte faz-se uma recuperação histórica das nações indígenas e dos negros na produção de riquezas em nível nacional, na resistência e na acumulação de forças contra a dominação européia. A marca dessa dominação resultou em massacres de milhões de seres humanos sob o modelo agro-exportador. Na segunda parte são feitas algumas reflexões sobre a história do movimento operário do ABC, como instrumento de acúmulo de forças no período da industrialização, do modelo substituição de importações e do modelo monopolista dependente associado. Essa dependência subordinou-se, nas últimas décadas, ao monopólio das transnacionais sob a lógica da tirania do dinheiro e das informações. O movimento operário da região se constitui a partir das reivindicações econômicas e das lutas políticas do anarco-sindicalismo, da hegemonia comunista na esquerda e do chamado sindicalismo combativo, que dá origem ao PT e à CUT. O objetivo desse resgate é o de compreender melhor algumas determinantes histórico-sociológicas, dos “de baixo” na perspectiva de uma possível continuidade na construção do sonho de liberdade ou do poder popular. Se existe ou não um fio condutor entre os lutadores do passado para o presente e que possa alimentar sonhos futuros. Seja das nações indígenas, dos negros contra a discriminação étnica, dos trabalhadores livres e dos movimentos sociais ou da “democracia participativa”. ABSTRACT: This article presents historical and sociological opinions about the so-called “Grande ABC” area and, more specifically, about Diadema. Such domination resulted in the massacre of millions of human beings under the agricultural-exporting model. In the second part of it, some reflections about the history of the movements of the working classes of the ABC area as an instrument for the accumulation of forces in the period of the industrialization of the country and of the substitution of the importation model – and the depending monopolist model associated to it – are made. Over the last decades, such dependence has become subordinated to the monopoly of the transnational companies under the logic of the tyranny of the capital and of the information. The social movements of the working classes of the area has been constituted from the economical demands and the political struggle of the anarchic-syndicalism, from the communist hegemony in the left and from the so-called fighting syndicalism, which have originated the PT (Brazilian Labor Party) and the CUT (Brazilian Central Union of the Workers). The objective of such historical rescue is to better understand some decisive historical-sociological conditions, from “the lower ones” in the perspective of a possible continuity in the construction of the dream of freedom or of the popular power. Whether there is a common line uniting the fighters of the past and those of the present, and if so whether it may nurture future dreams. Be it from the indigenous nations, from the black people against segregation, from free workers and social movements or from the “participating democracy”.
