Investigador holandês que se juntou ao IGC, em
2008, para coordenar o Laboratório de Mecanismos
Epigenéticos.
A Dutch scientist who joined the IGC in 2008 to
coordinate the Epigenetic Mechanisms Laboratory.
O IGC funciona como instituição de acolhimento e ”porta de entrada”
em Portugal para investigadores e clínicos, nacionais e estrangeiros,
com vista a criar e a reforçar o desenvolvimento de programas
de investigação de excelência e a fortalecer a comunidade
científica, em Portugal e no estrangeiro.
The IGC operates as a host institution that provides an “entrance hall” into Portugal
for national and international researchers and clinicians, with the goal of setting up
and developing research programmes of excellence and strengthening the scientific
community, in Portugal and abroad.

Identificar, educar e incubar novos líderes científicos, disponibilizando
serviços de ponta e total autonomia científica e financeira, no desenvolvimento
dos seus projetos;
To identify, educate and incubate new research leaders, providing state-of-the-art facilities
and full financial and intellectual autonomy to pursue research projects;
Exportar líderes científicos para outros institutos de investigação ou universidades,
em Portugal e no estrangeiro;
To export new scientific leaders to other research centres and academia, in Portugal and
abroad.
Desenvolver programas internacionais de ensino pós-graduado;
To provide international graduate teaching and training programmes;
Promover a cultura científica e a difusão dos valores da ciência na sociedade,
bem como a participação ativa da sociedade na investigação científica,
através do diálogo direto com o público.
To promote a science-based culture and the values of science in society, as well as the
active participation of society in scientific research, through engagement with different
communities and stakeholders.
