The Smart Systems Campus Technopark Chemnitz, an <strong>in</strong>novative network with expertise <strong>in</strong><br />
micro and nano technologies as well as <strong>in</strong> smart systems <strong>in</strong>tegration is be<strong>in</strong>g created at<br />
Chemnitz, one of the German microsystems and nano technology centres, especially for firms<br />
that value direct access to famous scientific <strong>in</strong>stitutes and lead<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>ternational companies.<br />
A network of microsystems expertise will have been set up at the Smart Systems Campus <strong>in</strong><br />
Chemnitz by the beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g of 2009. Young, rapidly grow<strong>in</strong>g start-up companies and renowned<br />
<strong>in</strong>ternational corporations will set up new facilities right next to Chemnitz University of<br />
Technology and the Fraunhofer Institutes. The idea is to make it easier to connect research and<br />
development and the <strong>in</strong>dustrial implementation of ideas by hav<strong>in</strong>g everyth<strong>in</strong>g on the doorstep.<br />
Research and Development<br />
• Chemnitz branch of the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Micro<strong>in</strong>tegration IZM<br />
• Chemnitz University of Technology, faculties of Electrical Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g/Information<br />
Technology, Physics and Mechanical Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g with the Center for<br />
Microtechnologies (ZfM) and the Institute for Pr<strong>in</strong>t & Media Technology (pmTUC)<br />
• Fraunhofer Institute for Mach<strong>in</strong>e Tools and Form<strong>in</strong>g Technology is located nearby<br />
Start-up Build<strong>in</strong>g<br />
• For companies sett<strong>in</strong>g up <strong>in</strong> bus<strong>in</strong>ess <strong>in</strong> sectors related to Microsystems<br />
• 2,500m² of rentable bus<strong>in</strong>ess space with 1,500m² of laboratories & 1,000m² of office<br />
space<br />
• The greatest possible flexibility with regard to the <strong>in</strong>frastructure, media supplies and<br />
structur<strong>in</strong>g the available space to take <strong>in</strong>to account chang<strong>in</strong>g requirements and tenants<br />
• Standard area with options allow<strong>in</strong>g specific target groups to expand Industrial<br />
