novo paradigma de Filosofia Primeira reexaminam-se os contributos
da filosofia analítica e da hermenêutica, mas Peirce será fundamental
como fonte de inspiração 10 . A sua noção de Comunidade
de Investigadores (inquiry) revelar-se-á extraordinariamente profícua
para a fundamentação transcendental da ética, que a decalca
na Comunidade Ideal de Comunicação, princípio regulador que a
comunidade real de homens concretos tomará como modelo, tentando,
quanto possível, tornar menor a intransponível distância
entre as duas.
Apel tem o condão de fazer da sua filosofia o ponto de convergência
dos movimentos intelectuais mais importantes do século
que terminou, estabelecendo conscientemente o seu exercício em
diálogo com os seus pares e com os que o precederam. Assim,
além de lhe caber o mérito de ter introduzido a filosofia de Peirce
na Europa, em meados da década de 60, Apel foi indubitavelmente
o primeiro pensador a tentar extrair dela uma ética, uma
ética da comunicação - projecto no qual foi seguido por Habermas
- e fê-lo recorrendo à sua peculiar leitura da transformação da filosofia
