C
om mais de 50 anos de atividade, o LPF (Laboratório
de Produtos Florestais) é um importante espaço de
pesquisa para área da madeira. Vinculado ao MMA
(Ministério do Meio Ambiente) o laboratório tem a
proposta de desenvolver estudos, pesquisas e transferir
tecnologias para utilização dos recursos florestais. O modelo de
Habitação Popular em Madeira é resultado de uma das iniciativas
de estudos do LPF. Trata-se de um novo modelo de sistema construtivo
que já foi implantado em alguns municípios da região norte
do país. Para entender melhor sobre o funcionamento da instituição,
conversamos com o coordenador do laboratório, Fernando
Nunes Gouveia, funcionário de carreira do IBAMA (Instituto Brasileiro
do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renováveis).

ith more than 50 years of activity, the Forest Products
Laboratory (LPF) is an important research
space for the Forest Sector. Affiliated with the
Ministry of the Environment (MMA), the Laboratory
aims to carry out studies and research, as well as
transfer technologies for the use of forest resources. The model of Popular
Housing in Wood is the result of one of the LPF’s study initiatives.
It is a new construction system model that has already been implemented
in some municipalities in the Northern Region of the Country.
To better understand how the institution works, we spoke with the
laboratory coordinator, Fernando Nunes Gouveia, a career employee
of the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural
Resources (Ibama).
