RIDE DISC
TOUR
If sports equipment, training tool or capable
partner for recreational cycling with a sporty
accent: road bikes have the purpose to provide
their riders with maximum riding fun. They
are light enough to climb mountains with ease.
They are also agile, strong at sprinting and thus
ideally suitable for swift rolling on flat terrain.
During high-speed downhills, road bikes perform
equally supremely well – thanks to their
direct handling and reliable tracking stability. In
short: road bikes are powerful fun generators.
However, this only applies if “horse and rider”
are able to cooperate ideally. Therefore, the
geometry and character of a bike have to match
the rider’s in an optimal way. This is where our
modern RIDE concept comes into play. It aims
at all those riders who are not into only “ultimate
full-throttle machines”. Our RIDE is a comfortable
road bike, but it can go full-throttle nevertheless
– otherwise it wouldn’t be in the quiver
of our UCI WorldTour TEAM LAMPRE-MERIDA.
For MY 2015, the RIDE is enhanced by another
aspect. Via the RIDE DISC, disc brakes enter our
700C portfolio for the very first time.
The most obvious feature of the new comfort
generation is the 160 mm disc brake system
(mounted without adapters at the front and
the rear). But other technological innovations
are less self-evident: For example, the light
carbon frame has been adapted to the disc-brake
forces which influence (in contrast to calliper
brakes) the bike only on one side: So both chain
stay and fork required adequate modifications
to match the new “one-sided” requirements.
After a consequent and complete in-house
redevelopment, the RIDE DISC now features
a carbon fork with a 15 mm thru-axle distributing
the force flow in an ideal way. Due to the
innovative internal routing of the brake tube,
the fork delights visually as well. All in all, our
“comfort bike of the future” offers a perceptibly
higher suitability for everyday use. To realize
this factor down to the very last detail, frame
and fork sport special fender mounts. The
fenders as such are optionally available as
accessories and have been specifically developed
for the RIDE DISC.
Of course, the RIDE DISC also benefits from
the genes of the previous RIDE generations.
For example, the rear end is optimized towards
best possible comfort with its flat stays, and it
provides enough room for 25 mm tyres (installed
ex works). These tyres effectively absorb
vibrations caused by the all too often rough
road surface and therefore spare the rider’s power
reserves. In addition, the special geometry
