96 SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER 2012They mentionedOlympiads and here we are!It is the dream of each journalist to followup on site Olympic Games accepted as thebiggest sports organization of the world. The process for watching on site all branchesespecially athletics which is regarded asthe mother of sports and for being an ‘olympicreporter’ started following the accreditationtransactions performed one year in advance.I got a sufficient opinion about the greatnessof this organization when I learnt uponlanding in London that I was just one of the1900 journalists who came to Olympiads. We had to make the best of the Latinthree-word “Citius, Altius, Fortius” philosophywhich is the motto of Olympic Games. In other words; we had to be “Faster, higherand stronger!” We had to jump from one thingto the other for the best news, best images andbest interviews” during the Olympiads whichwe would be attending with 114 athletes from16 branches for the first time in our history!‘Global peace’ magazine interpreting theworld in English through Turkish perspectiveTTurkey is continuing to becomea more attracting center of interestday by day. The fast developmentit achieved during recent years, its economic and democratic reformsand such incidents as Ergenekonare increasing the foreign interestin Turkey more and more. The foreignerstrying to know Turkey togetherwith its political, cultural and humanitarianvalues in parallel with such interestresort to various sources. Themost striking deficiency of these sourcesis that they are trying to analyzethe country through a non-native,foreign perspective and according totheir own perceptions...Feza Gazetecilik decided to “tellTurkey from a Turkish perspective”when a smear and misinformationcampaign was started and spread inthe West against Turkey. It alreadyhad a daily media organ in English,Today’s Zaman. However, it didn’thave a media organ appropriate forresponding to the periodicals introducingTurkey to foreigners by usingfalse, biased, wrong information andcomments.Feza Gazetecilik set out from theinterest showed in Today’s Zamanand created a new periodical underits roof. This media organ is the TurkishReview Magazine trying to fillthis gap since January 2011 with itsmodest but qualified staff.
