In this study, resistance frequency of 145 Klebsiella sp. strains which were
isolated from sewer water of Balcalı Hospital was determined against to the
ceftriaxone, imipenem, tetracycline, streptomycin, augmentin and the role in
developing of antibiotic resistance and spreading was researched.
Antibiotic resistance of Klebsiella sp. strains were found as ceftriaxone
%55.86, streptomycine %57.93, tetracycline %50.33, augmentine % 48.27 and
imipenem % 7.58. According to results, it showed that Klebsiella sp. Strains
resistance is like multiple antibiotic resistance. While strains which are resistance to
all antibiotics compose %44.13 of all isolates were studied, %10.93 of them to all
antibiotic, %82.81 of them to 4 antibiotics, %18.75 of them to 3 antibiotics and
%9.37 of them shows resistant to 2 antibiotics.
Antibiotic resistance on Klebsiella sp. strains was observed based on
chromosomal in the rate of %88.89 for ceftriaxone, %79.77 for streptomycin and
%79.46 for tetracycline.
On the result of elimination tests, it was observed that strains sensitive to
augmentin has turned in to resistance and especially becoming resistance in the rate
of %33, 33 with ethidium bromide showed that Klebsiella sp. strains trans huge
amount transpozable element to this antibiotic.
Maximum elimination frequency has been observed for imipenem antibiotic.
This result showed that resistance to imipenem is based on plasmid in important rate.
In the eliminator used, 100 µg/mL concentration of ethidium bromide for
ceftriaxone, streptomycin and 100 µg/mL concentration of acridine orange has been
found more effective for augmentin and imipenem.
Key Words: Antibiotic Resistance, Klebsiella sp., Plasmid.
