Sažetak:<<strong>br</strong> />

Pisati o stresu znači pisati o životu, jer stres je neizbježan dio života. Mediji uvriježeno opisuju stres kao loše psihofi zičko stanje, ali to nije točno. Do određene razine<<strong>br</strong> />

stres je pozitivan (eustres), poticajan, donosi uzbuđenje, podiže adrenalin, ali kada uzrokuje negativne posljedice (distres), ovisno o pojedincu, može imati znatne<<strong>br</strong> />

negativne učinke. Znatan postotak populacije, posebice u velikim gradovima, svakodnevno je u stanju pojačane napetosti, za<strong>br</strong>inutosti, nervoze – te nastaju neželjene<<strong>br</strong> />

fi zičke posljedica kao što su glavobolje, probavne smetnje, poremećaji opuštanja i spavanja. Tijekom vremena kronične glavobolje i nesanice mogu uzrokovati mnogo<strong>br</strong>ojne<<strong>br</strong> />

simptome i tegobe svih organskih sustava. Primjerice, povišene vrijednosti krvnog tlaka mogu uzrokovati polagano, ali trajno oštećenje srca. Uvriježeno je<<strong>br</strong> />

mišljenje da aktivator stresa nastaje zbog vanjskih čimbenika, i to u životnim situacijama, zbog politike, ekonomske i fi nancijske situacije. Naše reakcije, resursi kojima<<strong>br</strong> />

raspolažemo, mogućnost suočavanja i prihvaćanja svakodnevnih situacija ključni su za prepoznavanje stresnih čimbenika. Zaposlenici u sustavu zdravstva trebaju<<strong>br</strong> />

razviti kompetencije nužne za bolju učinkovitost u izvršavanju radnih zadataka te da istodobno iskoristiti potencijale zaštitnih čimbenika radi smanjenja osobnog<<strong>br</strong> />

stresa.<<strong>br</strong> />

Abstract:<<strong>br</strong> />

Writing about stress is writing about life, because stress is an inevitable part of it. Media popularly describe stress as bad psychological and physical condition, but it’s<<strong>br</strong> />

not true. Up to a certain level, stress is positive (eustress), stimulating, <strong>br</strong>ings excitement, but when it <strong>br</strong>ings negative consequences (distress), it can have signifi cant<<strong>br</strong> />

negative eff ects. A signifi cant percentage of the population, especially in big cities, every day suff ers a state of heightened tension, anxiety, nervousness - and is responsible<<strong>br</strong> />

for negative physical conditions, such as headaches, indigestion and sleep disorders. Over time, chronic headaches and insomnia can cause signifi cant symptoms<<strong>br</strong> />

and discomforts of all organ systems. For example, elevated blood pressure can cause a slow, but permanent heart damage. The conventional wisdom is that<<strong>br</strong> />

the stress activator is caused by external factors, by other people, politics, economic and fi nancial situation. Our reaction to them, the possibility of facing everyday<<strong>br</strong> />

situations and acceptance are the key to identifi cation of stress factors. Employees in the health system should develop competencies which are necessary for better<<strong>br</strong> />

work effi ciency, and simultaneously exploit the potential protective factors to reduce personal stress.<<strong>br</strong> />
