of investment plans; you use the euro funds
to the full extent efficiently; you revitalized
relaxation spots, you reconstructed a synagogue.
Obviously, stage-designed reconstruction
of the Malacky Castle Park situated
on the twenty-five hectare area, which
most probably all citizens of Malacky are
really proud of, turned to be the utmost
demanding task of all at present. It is really
a very spectacular area being used and
enjoyed quite often. We have purchased
the Pálffy monastery, the most significant
historical monument in the town,
and for the time being, we are processing
the project documentation designed
from the viewpoints of its financing, reconstruction
and further use. Further, let
me mention the implementation of the
twenty-seven holes golf course. The intended
plan has got both supporters and
those who refused it; however, it backs up
entirely the structure of the offered bid
within the scope of our business plans
designed in reference to foreseen development
in tourism prospectively. Once
we count all the implemented investment
events supported by the euro funds, the
value of municipality property expressed
in procurement/ purchase prices has got
augmented by twenty-six per cent over
the two last years, i.e., by approximately
twelve million euro.
■■ Malacky’s municipality district has developed
the environment protection programme.
Selected waste management occurred to be
a success here. Current economic standing,
however, made the self-administration representatives
bothered.
We can’t afford to neglect some issues
and the issue of environment is the case.
We are building an enterprise for waste
selection which will serve to a region in its
entirety.

■■ Wine-growing town Pezinok has been
making every endeavour for ages to make
presentations at tourism fairs. How do you
attract tourists and make them come and see
the town?
Annually, we participate in domestic
fair of tourism Slovakiatour jointly with
our foreign counterpart towns. We also
took part in similar tourism events held
in Prague and Brno this year. Slovak
culture, viticulture and wine production
have been presented by us in Slovak
institutes abroad and within the frame
of various cultural and societal events
held in twin-towns. We are happy to say
that fundamental information about
Pezinok occurred to be well-embedded
in minds of those who are fond of the
wine-growing town, and further detailed
information about precise deadlines, time
schedules, offers and invitations to attend
the events is communicated between us
accordingly. We have already reached the
point when we have to organize a highly
popular gastronomic international contest
Fyzulnačka in making beans soup as a
separate event held several times, and not
as part of vintage, due to high attendance
rate. Our goal is to prefer quality standard
to quantity. It is really our wish to produce
an ambiance and to make visitors enjoying
their leisure and spot. On top of that we
would like to focus on versatile events and
catchy happenings arranged for whole
families in entirety, not tailored for men
only who taste and consume wine over
the Open Wine Cellars Days so their wives
turn to be, willy-nilly, crowd stuntmen and
taxi-drivers of their tipsy husbands.

■■ Pezinok is a district town, a centre of the
Small Carpathian region. It is deemed to turn
to provide other smaller towns and communities
district-wide with its services. Does it
sound reasonably?
Pezinok is implementing services and
performing functions for surrounding
communities to a certain extent. The
scope is covering education, trade and
services, culture, tourism, viticulture and
wine production. Low unemploymentrate
is given not only by solid economic
environment and close vicinity of the
City of Bratislava, but also by beaver-like
diligence at work proved by historical and
common evidence. Citizens of the town
and the region were always used to have
two professions, if not dual occupation
over the history. Realizing the fact that
they were artisans, craftsmen or clerks
and officers, everybody of them had
also vineyards where they worked hard
and supported their family budgets and
standard of living. Therefore, hard work
and entrepreneurial spirit are typical
features of citizens of the region.

■■ Which business activities do you maintain?
How do you want to attract the investors?
In Senec, there are diverse businessmen
running their businesses represented
in any field. But as far as a businessman
approaches the authorities with the aim to
introduce a business plan for a profession
not currently represented in the town, let’s
say “shoe-maker”, he will be asked to pay
just minimum rental fee in our premises
contrarily to a businessman who would
like to open and run restaurants which
there are plenty of them in Senec. Investors
are usually being lured in the logistical
centre by the lands provided already with
engineering networks and infrastructure
for business development.
Under what stage does the construction of
