Roe and Smith (2012) explain, ?Effective use of metacognitive techniques has a positive effect on both comprehension
and study skills? (p. 281). Review the techniques and strategies presented in Chapter Eight that incorporate
metacognition in a student?s learning. What techniques could you implement in lessons designed for a reading support
program or in lessons presented in a library or media center? Describe a sample activity or lesson, what the student will
do and how the metacognition will impact their comprehension. Guided Response: Review several of your peers? posts
and respond to at least two by completing you own ?think aloud?, detailing the thought process you went through to
analyze their post. Give them suggestions for implementing metacognition in their lessons that will increase student
comprehension.
