И, конечно, разговор о типологии общественного
центра был бы неполным без
упоминания объектов, которые создаются
на месте бывших религиозных сооружений.
Еще один-два века назад церкви, монастыри
и приходские службы играли ключевую роль
и в градостроительной структуре любого
европейского города, и в его социальнообщественной
жизни, но сегодня храмы
регулярно посещает от 10 до 30 процентов
населения, в зависимости от конкретного
государства, поэтому огромное количество
величественных, построенных на века
сооружений пустуют. Найти им новое
применение — задача, непростая
и с экономической, и с этической точки зрения,
и создание под вековыми сводами комьюнитицентра
— для нее едва ли не самое лучшее
решение. При этом функциональное наполнение
такого центра может быть самым разным.
Так, например, одним из первопроходцев
в этом плане стал голландский Маастрихт,
где в 2006 году бывшая доминиканская церковь

Instead of a prayer
Any conversation about the community center as
a building type would be incomplete, of course,
without mention of projects which are being
created on the sites of former religious buildings.
Only one or two centuries ago, churches,
monasteries, and parish services still played a
key role in both the planning structure of any
European city and in cities’ social and public life,
but today churches are regularly visited by a mere
10 to 30 percent of the population, depending on
the specific country; for this reason, an enormous
number of these majestic buildings built to last
centuries are standing empty. To find new uses
for them is a task which is by no means simple
from both the economic and ethical point of view,
and the creation of a community center under
the centuries-old vaulting is probably the best
solution. The new functions housed by these
centers may be of all kinds.
One of the pioneers in this respect was
Maastricht in the Netherlands, where in 2006
a former Dominican church dating to the 13th
century was reconstructed to create a bookshop
