Dolby Media MeterDolby ® Media Meter is a software tool for measuring loudness in programmingfor broadcast, packaged media, VOD, and games.Differences in audio levels betweenprograms and channels or betweenprograms and commercials are a majorannoyance to TV viewers. While obviousto the viewer, these loudness differenceshave proven difficult to measure withconventional methods and equipment.With Dolby ® Media Meter, Dolby addsto its lineup of unique and innovativetools that accurately and objectivelymeasure loudness as viewers subjectivelyexperience it. Dolby Media Meter featuresDialogue Intelligence technology,adopted from the award-winningDolby DP600 Program Optimizer, thatautomatically detects and then measuresloudness only during the presence ofspeech in an audio track. Dolby MediaMeter measures loudness using the ITU-RBS.1770-1 algorithm, and measurementscan be done either with or withoutDialogue Intelligence.Dolby Media Meter runs as a Mac ® orWindows ® stand-alone application, asa Digidesign ® Pro Tools ® AudioSuiteor RTAS plug-in, and as a plug-in forMinnetonka AudioTools AWE.
