Dritte Auflage des ersten systematischen Buches über den
Bergbau und das Hüttenwesen; nach Cyril Stanley Smith
sind sowohl die zweite Auflage von 1550 wie auch die
dritte Ausgabe weit besser als die erste von 1540, da „die
Schrift abgenutzt, schlecht ausgerichtet, und als feste Masse

Die Pirotechnia ist eine wichtige Quelle für viele praktische
Aspekte der anorganischen Chemie. Biringuccio betont
die Anpassung der Mineralien und Metalle – ihr Verhalten
beim Legieren und Verarbeiten und vor allem beim
Giessen. In diesem Bereich ist er der führende Autor des
16 Jh. Und übertrifft seine Zeitgenossen Georgius Argicola
und Lazarus Ercker.

Third edition of the first systematic book on mining and
metallurgy; according to Cyril Stanley Smith, the second
edition of 1550 and the third edition are far superior to the
first edition of 1540, for in that earlier edition "the type is
worn, poorly aligned, and arranged in a solid mass, unrelieved

The Pirotechnia is a prime source on practical aspects of
inorganic chemistry. Biringuccio emphasizes the adaptation
of minerals and metals to their use — their alloying,
working, and especially the art of casting. In this area he is
superior to the two other sixteenth-century authors, Georgius
Argicola and Lazarus Ercker.
