Manuela Farinosi is a post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Human Sciences at the
University of Udine (Italy). She received a PhD in Multimedia Communication in 2010.
Her main research interests are focused on social and cultural aspects of new technologies,
and in particular on social media and their impact on public and private spheres.
Leopoldina Fortunati is chair of the PhD Program in Multimedia Communication at the
University of Udine where she teaches Sociology of Communication and Culture and
Theories and Techniques of the New Media. She has conducted several research projects
in the field of gender studies, cultural processes and communication and information technologies.
She is the Italian representative in the COST Domain Committee (ISCH, Individuals,
Societies, Cultures and Health). She is associate editor of the journal The Information
Society and serves as referee for many outstanding journals. Her works have been
published in eleven languages.
Manfred Faßler ist Professor am Institut für Kulturanthropologie und Europäische Ethnologie
an der Goethe Universität Frankfurt. Seine Lehr- und Forschungsgebiete umfassen
u.a. Anthropologie des Medialen, Medienevolution/Koevolution, informationelle Globalisierung,
bio-kulturelle Koevolution, und nachgesellschaftliche Globalstrukturen. Zu seinen
letzten Publikationen zählen: Kampf der Habitate. Neuerfindung des Lebens im 21. Jahrhundert,
Wien, New York 2012, und Nach der Gesellschaft. Infogene Welten, anthropologische
Zukünfte, München 2009.

Volker Ralf Grassmuck is a media sociologist, free-lance author and activist. He has
conducted research on the knowledge order of digital media and on copyright and the
knowledge commons at Free University Berlin, Tokyo University, Humboldt University
Berlin and University of São Paulo. He is a professor at Leuphana University Lüneburg,
Germany. He was project leader of the conference series Wizards-of-OS.org and of the
copyright information portal iRights.info He is a co-founder of mikro-berlin.org,
privatkopie.net, and CompartilhamentoLegal.org. He blogs at vgrass.de. His publications
include: Freie Software zwischen Privat- und Gemeineigentum, Bundeszentrale für
politische Bildung, Bonn 2002.
