10 Oldie-Markt 2/07 AC/DC: Spitze in Australien war T.N.T. stilistisch eindeutig in Richtung Hardrock gestrickt. Oder wie Angus erzählte: „George nahm unser schlechtestes Stück und probierte es auf dem Klavier aus, mit Arrangements wie bei 10 CC oder sogar Mantovani. Wenn er fertig war und die Struktur stimmte, nahmen wir den Song und brachten unseren Straßenschmutz rein.“ Songs wie der Titeltrack, It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock’n’Roll) oder Can I Sit Next To You Girl waren zwar simpel gestrickt, aber enorm effektvoll und immer knallhart, so dass es kein Wunder war, dass die zweite LP in Australien zu einem Beststeller geriet. Sie ging in einer Woche 11.000mal über den Ladentisch – für Australien eine gewaltige Zahl. Und wie es in einem solchen Fall geht: Die erste LP wurde gleicht mit nach oben gespült, so dass die beiden Platten gemeinsam an der Spitze der LP-Charts des fünften Kontinents standen. Damit war der erste Schritt in Richtung Erfolg getan, aber für D-Single: Atlantic WEA 78.9774-7 den internationalen Durchbruch brauchte man einen potenten Partner und der konnte nicht Albert Productions heißen. Die Firma, die den Schritt in die Welt unterstützen wollte hieß Atlantic Records, das Label also, auf dem sich Ende der 60er Jahre Led Zeppelin aufgemacht hatten, den Heavy Metal zu erfinden. Genau an diese Band fühlten sich die Gewaltigen von Atlantic denn auch erinnert und so ging es 1976 nach England – auf denselben Weg, den auch Harry Vanda und George Young mit den Easybeats beschritten hatten. Um das Projekt nicht durch eine Studiozeit zu unterbrechen, spielte man im Januar schon das nächste Opus in Sydney ein, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap hieß es. Am 1. April 1976 zog die ganze Band nach England um, aber der Start war alles andere als gut: Die Tour im Vorprogramm von Back Street Crawler fiel aus, weil Paul Kossoff starb. Aber wie man von unten aufsteigt, wusste man ja.
